Coyne In The Bubble

The Flaming Lips UFO spectacular at Bonnaroo was a fest highlight, as always. And though the 'Roo is long gone, we didn't get to share this bit of serendipitous videography ... and it really is a must-watch. For those who've never seen Coyne's bubble-walking in action -- and for those that have never walked in a bubble themselves, for that matter -- here's a front-row seat to the buoyant madness. From that last look Wayne flashes, it seems that you never quite get over the thrill of stepping on your fans' loving faces.

i love this guy, but he did this THREE YEARS AGO at coachella. get a new act, wayne. no more bubbles, puppets singing happy birthday, etc.

I'm all for 'learn some new tricks' but the balloon/confetti/dancing aliens/lasers still put a smile on my face after multiple viewings. And MOST of the audience probably haven't seen the act prior, no? Part of the fun is seeing how much fun everyone's having. Wow, that sounded hippie. Lemme go wash the Bonnaroo off again.

Did we just catch a glimpse of Wayne's O-face at the end there? I hope so.

To opinionated jerkface:
The whole spaceship crashing and the power of music putting it back into flight at the 'Roo is a totally new act I think seen maybe once or twice before along. I also hadn't seen the lazer pointers before. He just is incorporating new and old. So looks like he listened to your great comment on a blog! Great job!

ron (if that comment was meant to be snarky): i wasn't seriously considering that wayne coyne of the flaming lips would hear my cries for fantastic newness and spawn a whole new stage show. congratulations on seeing the spaceship deal. now if only they could make At War With the Mystics less horrible...

this bonnaroo show was amazing live. they played black sabbath's "war pigs" to warm up.
