Death Cab Perform In A Black Cab

thumbnail icon: Death Cab Perform In A Black Cab

Earlier this week we saw Futureheads' Barry Hyde give "Radio Heart" his all for a Black Cab Session. Now it's Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla's turn to jump in the back. They opt for an acoustic version of Narrow Stairs gem "No Sunlight." The irony here is that sunlight keeps streaming through the windows, practically blinding Chris.
Some guy in a passing bus is mesmerized. Watch it here. As far as the nice "cab" echo in the headline, we'd like to see Jens perform "Black Cab" on Black Cab, too. Because that'd be something.

Fitting to say the least. I really like their music anyway, plus I think creativity is the name of the game when it comes to music videos.

Yeah I don't really dig these Black Cab sessions. It seems like a decent idea on paper, but it doesn't really work. Like someone already said, it's like a poor man's la blogotheque.

funnily enough, we did Jens Lekman yesterday performing that very song. It will be on our site very soon.
As for the comments above, we really like hearing peoples thoughts. We in no way want to copy Vincent Moons Take Away Shows and in fact we know him very well - hes a good friend. We just wanted to do something that is iconic to London and the cab seemed a perfect venue.
We'll keep going and hopefully we'll come up with a session you like!

Thanks
Black Cab sessions xx

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
