Death Cab Possess Letterman's Heart

thumbnail icon: Death Cab Possess Letterman's Heart

You have the facts and you're voting mostly yes to Narrow Stairs. The Death Cabbers celebrated release day last night, bringing their ode to being creepy "I Will Possess Your Heart" to the Ed Sullivan Theater. Whatever your response to the record, this is a knockout performance by late night indie rock standards: confident, good sound, fat pocket. Sans intro, it's an economical take on the multi-minute jam (Death Cab probably wanted to play the album version but it's only a 90 minute show). We liked 'em at Coachella, but this is sounding powerful in close quarters. Besides Letterman likes it, so, score.

We have a winner indeed. Nick Harmer is a fierce bassist and such a good vodka salesman, you guys.

Narrow Stairs is out via Atlantic.

This is why I should always TiVo the last 10 minutes of Letterman and Conan.

I honestly didn't think it was that good of a performance... very "meh".

I think the pedophile glasses really underscore Ben's (unfortunate?) resemblance to Rainn Wilson.

weird. i always thought he looked like brian wilson rather than rainn wilson, but now that you mention it...

Nice to see they really put a lot of effort into dressing up for a national tv show. Not! And Nick is in dire need of a new hairstyle.

This was a very good performance indeed....

Notice how Nick Harmer's awesome factor has suddenly gone from a low 2 or 3 to 1 billion with the addition of a beard and BACKWARDS backing vocals.

That said,not too shabby.

Their technical execution is undeniably flawless, and that's saying something when you're performing on network TV and it's characteristically bad mixing...but I just can't get it up for this song.

I really enjoyed this, but could't get over how similar Ben is in his movements to a puppet; namingly Lambchop or Kermit the frog. Jusssayinisall.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen
