Feist Joins Grizzly Bear In Toronto

thumbnail icon: Feist Joins Grizzly Bear In Toronto

Grizzly Bear continue to be everywhere lately: the Top 10 of Billboard's album chart; on the cover of comics when I attended MoCCA (small-press comic fest) this weekend; Canada. You know, everywhere. When Ed landed in Toronto, he twitterly lamented this being the band's first trip to the city without an appearance from local resident Owen Pallett (who is touring Europe at present and for his part, missed him too, bugaboo). Instead attendees of Toronto's Phoenix club had to settle for this other Canadian Grizzly Bear once toured with, first name Leslie. People seem to be OK with her showing up. Feist sung on Horn Of Plenty's "Service Bell" (as arranged for DWTN) and took Victoria LeGrand's part on "Two Weeks." YouTube was there:

Veckatimest and Dark Was The Night both exist. Let's see what Feist comes up with next.

I saw Ed Droste's twitter ( yes i twitter...don't judge me) and I became insanely jealous of Toronto, then I remembered the ridiculously amazing Town Hall show.

So so so jealous of this. The reincarnation of Service Bell is one of my favorite Grizzly Bear songs ever, Feist or no Feist. But that had to be a fun appearance.

I was here, and Grizzly Bear put on the best show I've ever seen, and probably ever will see. They were on fire last friday. The Feist appearance was just icing on the cake (and yes, she was adored by the crowd). Grizzly Bear Toronto concert >>>>>>>> Animal Collective Toronto concert (which was great in itself).

How Original....people could at least come up with some new zingers.

To me this show sounds fan-fucking-tastic, wish I'd been there

Leslie Feist is a vapid scene who*re in constant pursuit of the limelight. Her appearance was a sorespot in an otherwise immaculate performance by artists with more talent in their pinkies than she will ever have. She clearly couldn't keep up with the guys, and created a vacuous hole in the sound mix. It sounded like crap and should not have happened in the first place. Go sing a TV jingle you pretentious twit!!

no kidding....knowing her list of Toronto musicians she's fucked in the last decade, she might be trying a little too hard

Would you be saying that if she were a man?

Of course he wouldn't. The hipster world is full of sexist double standards.

If anybody's interested they also performed in studio at the current. It's over at mpr.org.

I couldn't give a crap if she were man, woman, child or goat, or who she's diddling. Her part was terrible, and watching her bop around onstage like a lifeless muppet was even worse.

Does anyone actually think that this was a strong performance?? The mic levels were left unchanged and yet her vocals were expressionless and barely audible. What - so she gets props just because she's a douchey local?? Why crash the party if you can't keep up??

but yeah, her vocals on "Two Weeks" were indeed a little strange.....some faint "whoa-oh-ohhs" that everyone could barely hear

I love how people are critiquing the sound quality of a fucking youtube video.
