Fleet Foxes Meet Conan O'Brien
After yesterday, Fleet Foxes can officially add being called "hepcats" by Conan O'Brien to their impressive list of accomplishments in 2008. The band brought their Fleetwood Mac-on-MMJ harmony fest "English House" from the Sun Giant EP to 30 Rock, and apparently requested nothing but red and blue hues from the producers. Shroomy. It makes for a nice backdrop to their pretty and psilocybic Americana, which was well remembered during Gummy voting season. Watch the performance Hulu, and stick to the end for Conan's stamp of approval.

Since I know Robin reads these and really cares about what people think, I will say hurry up and record a new album. Don't try to hard, cause you will inevitably have the sophomore slump.

And since Robin reads these, hi Robin I saw you on Bedford last night but it was cold and rainy and I didn't want to shade you out in my hoodie while you got money from the ATM. Considerate!

could they have picked a more boring song to play on national television? Almost as bad as when Animal Collective decided to play "#1". oh good lord.

These guys are great. That was pretty cool- and trippy. I am glad I even get to hear their music.

a) this song is awesome. they deserve every accolade.
b) leave MMJ out of it.

robin will never ever escape from under the shade of jim jame's vocal stylings, sorry, anyways MMJ is so much more fun and groovy

they don't sound alike!

...but their "vibe" is similar.
The only Fleet Foxes song that makes me go all 'they deserve their hype' is White Winter Hymnal. This song is like Grizzly Bear with less texture or atmosphere.

I completely agree. The beginning sounds like a direct rip off of Grizzly Bear's "easier"
Not sure why these guys got so big. It's pretty I guess.

is hepcat some re-work of hip cat?
Score = -1
It was always been "hepcat" and not "hip cat". Dates back to 1930's jazz –

Great performance.

Great performance. There's a lot of magic in the tones. I also think it's time to record again or at least do something to improve upon their last record. Like something visual or an animation. Or perform the whole album in a cave. Or perform to the children of Iraq. Or something cool like that.

anyone see them at sxsw last year....so good.

Even though the sound production makes it sound like trash, just being reminded of seeing these guys live gives me goosebumps. It was SUCH a good show.

How the fuck can people honestly bash this band...so..soo. good.

Cheers guys! Come back home and enjoy the snow! ;)

the band is a complete rip off of my morning jacket/band of horses. white winter hymnal is their only good song that i know of. the reason they got popular is because warner bros/sub pop is promoting the crap out of them and people are buying the albums. the guys are young and hopefully they use their talents to craft more interesting songs. someone please tell phil ek to stop stamping the bands he produces with his 'signature reverb mauling'. gross.
