Formula 50 Goes Ashlee Style For The BET Awards

While we were out with Ryan, the BET Awards presented an evening of memorable performances, though none quite as captivating as 50 Cent's take on his hit "Amusement Park." Really, Fid's an awesome rapper when his DJ doesn't cue up the instrumental track instead of the proper lip-syncable jam. Check the embarrassment, edited together with love by Media Take Out. Ladies and gentlemen ... Vitamin Water. (via PopWatch)

haven't we all been over 50 for quite some time now? Like...about a week after that first single? I'm not surprised to see him syncing. Maybe him and Ashlee should do a "duet"

I wonder when the world will wake up to the fact that hip-hop is a total sham.

hip-hop is not a sham. mainstream "rap" is, if that's what you wanna call it anyways..

there's some great hip-hop out there, you just have to dig.

hmmm maybe thats why interscope refuses to release his record. i've actually had the pleasure of seeing 50 live and he does indeed rap, but most artists when they are on award shows lip-sync. Anyways i think 50 is an embrassment to rap, becuase he writes the same song over and over. Plus anyone remember when 50 called Ja-Rule a pussy? Who is pussy now 50?

this makes hip hop a sham about as much as jared leto and ashlee simpson make rock a sham. that's just a stupid thing to say.

He also managed to rap while taking his jacket off and the mic nowhere near his face.

Ya think he feels creepy for that Vitamin Water bit? Or is he just without shame by this point?

Oh this makes me miss the glory days of the one they call Busta Rhymes. Seeing him at the Area 2 show a few years back showed me that rappers can indeed rap live without a hype man shouting the end of every line or barking on a track. -Sigh- Good times...

Yeah I dunno...even the "good" hip hop stuff is pretty dumb IMO. Maybe it's just the actual art form that does nothing for me....dudes boasting about nonsense over beats just doesn't add up to much. And I'm not a total hater....I am old enough to remember the first few PE records coming out and remembering even then that they had a weight and substance to them that was important. Modern hip hop just seems like one long, extended, never ending joke to me. Like "does anyone actually enjoy this music"? I think of myself as being pretty open minded about music..I like alot of pretty desperate genres but to me hip hop almost always = crass people talking about things that are either offensively stupid or of no consequence at all.

Eh, this means nothing. Lip-sync didn't kill Ashlee's career and it won't kill Fitty's... Why? No one cared about the music to begin with - just the cult of celebrity.

I just saw this video yesterday on ONTD and could not stop laughing. The part I could not stop laughing at was when he says "What the f**k!?". 50 Cent is such a dumb ass. Gee, I hope something like this happens to Kanye. I cannot stand Kanye or 50.

I really don't care for his music but I think he handled that pretty well, rather than doing a waltz then walking offstage leaving your band high and dry and crying in mommy's arms like Ashlee did.

Btw, if something like this DOES happen to Kayne, he'll use the moment to compare himself to Jesus, saying something like, "the MAN is trying to keep me down", and then threaten to kill the DJ because that's what Jesus would do. Right, kanYe ?
