Politics on Stereogum? Thank the B-52s. Former White House Press Secretary Scott McLellan wrote a book called What Happened about how the White House was allegedly deceitful about the Iraq war, which was apparently motivated by geopolitical strategy and an impetus to instill democracy by coercion in the Middle East and not because Iraq posed a nuclear threat because THERE WERE NO WMDs. You heard it here first. Actually, Videogum had it first. We're second this time. Assuming you consume no other media. And if you don't, you didn't see Fred Schneider bring some fabulousness to the Book On Tape version of the McTellAll on Jon Stewart last night. It's funny 'cause he's droll. Watch.

I think what is most frustrating is that public support for regime overthrow in Iraq was achievable without even asserting Saddam's possession of WMDs. I would've supported it regardless of the WMD position, anyway.

Unfortunately, the invasion and occupation of Iraq killed multitudes more people than Saddam did. A trillion dollar optional war. You'll notice Americans don't protest the Afghanistan operations.

If you really believe that GWB's war in Iraq killed more people than Saddam Hussein, you are a stupid frickin' dumbass. Saddam killed 10's, maybe 100's, of thousands of people because of their religious affiliation. The original war plan was just but it has become the cool thing to do to deem George Bush as a buffoon and pile on his administration. It just seems like liberal minded people would rather attack his credibility than to offer a more prudent approach. Get your facts straight, hippie!!!

Yeah... and who backed Saddam? Who considered Saddam to be a favored trading partner and even sold him gas to use on the Kurds? Their boy eventually stepped out of line and had to be taken out. No different than gangsters, really.
