From The Radiohead Cutting Room Floor

While we were bouncing around the 'roo, Nigel Godrich logged into radiohead.com/deadairspace to upload "bits of tape which have been chopped out of the mixes when they were edited," pasted into a single reel and played continuously. Of course it'd be entirely irresponsible and unwarranted to base any sort of opinion on such detritus, but whatever it is we're hearing at the :32/:44 second marks is gonna be the best song ever.

And there's another version replacing the charming tape reel and Nigel's hands for screens flashing possible song titles (the best song ever is referred to as "All I Need," which works both as a title and a statement of fact). Check it after the jump.

Yes, "All I Need" will be the greatest song ever. It still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, and a live video of it (from last year) is STILL on my website! And that small clip of the studio version of it sounds great too.

As long as "Videotape" is on the new album I'll be happy.

I bet "4 minute warning" won't make it to the record, and it's sad. It's one of their best songs.

If they release Nude (Big Ideas) after all these years with those damn electronic drums on it I'm going to be so upset.

This is great stuff -- and I'm not even a huge Radiohead fan.

(Also, did U2 briefly jump into anybody's head during one or two of those clips?)

the strings on down is the new up sound amazing.

i agree that if nude gets tortured with electronic drums it will be a big disappointment from live performances of years past

"Yeah, I got the.. Yeah, I got the POISON!" That song at the end sounds like it's going to rock harder than anything they've done in the last decade.

I already had my big Radiohead studio let-down (no pun intended) when they butchered, IMO, "Motion Picture Soundtrack" on Kid A. The early Yorke-with-acoustic-only versions are much better. I find that Thom has a strange compulsion for ruining songs with superfluous instrumentation sometimes. Which is why I'm glad "True Love Waits" was never released on an album besides the live one.

Open Pick sounds just as awesome as it did live in Summer 06. I'm hoping 'Reckoner' makes it onto LP7.

Videotape and Bangers N Mash really standout to me.

Undecided on All I Need, I need to hear more. But the strings sound nice.

Never really liked Arpeggio that much.

Ohhhhh boy I couldn't be anymore psyched for this album. And those were just the outtakes!

I hope Body Snatchers makes the cut. There's a first single if ever there was one.

So far sounds just like...well radiohead.

I think their finally treading water.

Since when does a band sounding like itself indicate that they're treading water? Lame...

I suppose if they made a "Springsteen record" you'd call that progress.

"If they release Nude (Big Ideas) after all these years with those damn electronic drums on it I'm going to be so upset."

Wait. What? When did that song ever have electronic drums? It doesn't appear in the clips here, and didn't use any electronics when they were playing it live last year...
