TV On The Radio "Crying" On Leno, Remixed By Gang Gang Dance
The critically-acclaimed NY indie acts gave each other shout outs in Indio on Saturday and today we're sharing the product of their recent collaboration. As reported last week, Gang Gang Dance deconstructed and lengthened "Stork & Owl" for TVOTR's new remix EP Read Silence. What was one of Dear Science's chillest cuts becomes more haunting through jerky beats, phase shifts, and Liz Bougatsos' harmonies mixing with Kyp's manipulated vocals. In its final section, the music fades into ambient dialogue recorded at a party and/or during a storm. Take a listen.
On Coachella Eve, TVOTR and their portable brass section dropped by Leno (again). This time with "Crying."
The three track Read Silence is out now on Interscope and the tour continues. You can find Amrit's pics of both GGD's and TVOTR's Coachella sets here.

Stork & the Owl was my favorite song from Dear Science, so I absolutely love the fact that GGD remixed it. Somehow they made the song sexier. Besides the music, which is always excellent live, I love Kyp's suit and Dave's nod to Prince. I guess he chose to wear the t-shirt as a reference to Prince's residency on Leno, Prince's influence on Crying, and because Prince is a Badass Motherfucker (Double Entendre referring to Salma Hayek)

this is incredibly good. GGD should probably remix the whole thing?

This is good...I'm not sure if it is better than the original though

Meh, the remix isn't my speed. I liked the bassy undertone and the piano(?) fills in the spaces between on the original. Obviously, the band likes it though, or they wouldn't have released, so yay on cross-band pollination.
On another note: what kind of jacked up deal does the band have where Kyp keeps doing the live performances? All of his album tracks are falsetto-heavy, which he can't pull off live, and his album tracks are (generally) the least memorable ones on this album.
Score = 0
They haven't been Kyp-heavy at all. If you remember, they did Dancing Choose on Letterman. On SNL they performed Dancing Choose and Golden Age. They are splitting time between the front men equally like on the CDs, which is awesome. I love Tunde's songs but usually end up getting more out of Kyp's songs. I also prefer Spencer Krug over Dan Boekner in a similar fashion. I am just a weirdo I guess.

I think that preferring Spencer Krug over Dan Boekner isn't as original as you think.
Score = 0
Yeah, Spencer rocks.
Anyway, it's not a question of falsetto not being good... it's a question of the fact that Kyp can't really sing falsetto.

Have you heard the "Shout Me Out" remix?
It's orgasmic.

This band sucks.
Wake up hipster douche bags.
The end.
Score = -3
Wake up? If we don't like something (at least one of us), we say so. Heck, I have all of TV On the Radio's albums and if I feel like stopping their music on my CD player, I certainly wouldn't do it at YOUR command.
Score = 0
You're right. I am not as original as I think I am. I was just trying to start a Tunde vs. Kyp vs. Dan vs. Spencer Cage Match, which I hoped would lead into a TV on the Radio vs. Wolf Parade Battle, which would start the US. vs. Canada Showdown for North America. I love subjectivity

There's a great movie out now called "Sugar," and there's one scene where an american baseball player asks his Dominican teammate (the titular Sugar) if he's ever heard of "TV On The Radio." He then proceeds to give Sugar the headphones, and the song plays over a montage. It's dangerously close to the "Garden State" Shins scene, except for the fact that the movie is a million times better, and there are no promises of it "changing your life."

I've heard the whole EP and wasn't feeling it at all. Even Glitch Mobs remix sucked. I dont think this is the type of band that needs to be remixed.
Score = 0
Which song is played in Sugar? You don't state which one in your post and I recently bought "Dear Science" since I thought it was on that one. It wasn't. And frankly, I agree with some of the posts about this band being overrated. It's ok, but frankly strikes me as trying just a bit too hard to sound different just to be different.
