Grizzly Bear Bring "Two Weeks" To Conan, Announce Deluxe Veckatimst

thumbnail icon: Grizzly Bear Bring "Two Weeks" To Conan, Announce Deluxe Veckatimst

The last time Grizzly Bear visited Conan, the Tonight Show host was still doing his show out of NYC and the band was just starting to prime the pump for Veckatimest with a pre-release performance of "While You Wait For The Others." That was over a year ago. Last night the band visited O'Brien in Los Angeles with their Beach House BFF Victoria Legrand for a take "Two Weeks," on the same day they announced the release of Veck special edition package. Turns out that album's got legs. (And turns out that's Matt Popieluch from Foreign Born on the shadowy keys back there.)

Victoria can sing. Veckatimst is out, and the Veckatimest special edition is out in the US and the UK on 11/2. It'll feature a "24-page photo booklet and a second disc containing seven songs recorded live in sessions around the world." That disc's tracklist:

CD2
Bonus Live Tracks:
01 "Southern Point" (KCRW Session)
02 "All We Ask" (KCMP Session)
03 "Ready, Able" (KCRW Session)
04 "Foreground" (Duyster Session)
05 "Two Weeks" (BBC Maida Vale Session)
06 "Dory" (World Café Session)
07 "While You Wait for the Others" (BBC Maida Vale Session)

The bonus disc will be available as a digital bundle at your digital retailer of choice. More info on that at grizzly-bear.net.

When will the Tonight Show work out their audio problems? I swear ever since he moved to LA, I haven't heard a band that sounded great like they did in NY. On the other hand, Fallon's audio people are superb!

so who was the guy on keys sitting a solid 10 feet behind the band that the cameras attempted not to show very much?

Matt from Foreign Born. At least according to Ed's Twitter. Wouldn't have recognized him otherwise, since, like you said, he got zero camera time.

I actually like their (Foreign Born's) new album better than Veckatimist (and I really like Veckatimist).

Matt from Foreign Born.

Was anyone else hoping they'd do Slow Life?

Does anyone have a link for people outside of the US?

ugh. Another beautiful rendition of that song destroyed by muddy late night talk show audio. I could barely hear Ed and Victoria's vocals were far too high. Also the secondary synth played Mr. Not-In-The-Band-So-I-Have-To-Sit-Way-Behind-Everyone-Else-And-Don't-Get-A-Conan-Gladhand during the chorus was way to low and seemed clipped. Love Victoria's vocal additions though, but it'd be nice to see them do Ready, Able live on TV again.

I supose I do get a little nostalgia for radio...This was a song playing that was playing on all the radios at the beach this summer...if radio still existed....

The information I have seen on the Veckatimest Special Edition is that it is being released in the UK and EU, NOT in the US.

Is Victoria a full-time member of the band now? (I wouldn't mind that)

It's a testament to how shitty the sound is in the Tonight Show studio that even Grizzly Bear doesn't sound that good in it.

Maybe it's just me, but this performance seemed weak. I know this isn't exactly a new song and they have been on the road for awhile but the band just seemed elsewhere. Sucks considering I'm seeing them play next week.

Weighing in on the Foreign Born thing, I haven't really listened to the album enough yet to say how I feel about it, but the track that was put out for the 'Drop, "Wander Aimlessly," is awesome, and I'm not sure why they haven't released that to a wider audience. So far I'm digging that more than anything on Person to Person, really.

"Two Weeks" and the rest of Veckatimst, is some seriously overrated shit.

I don't mind special editions for a great band like Grizz, but these things are just in general record company cash-ins (not talking about Veck) LOL at the Interpol one with the videos starting two minutes in.

So according to this video Victoria was the lead singer, 'cause her mix was louder and clearer than Ed's! :/

For some reason, their harmonies aren't as strong live as on the records. Ed's mic is way louder than his bandmates'. Also, I like that girl's voice, but why does she only have that one part? I would've liked to hear her sing a verse or something.

other than that, it's good because it's grizzly bear, but it's not their best performance.
