Help Them See Patti At CBGB

Soon the banners will fly at half-mast for the once-relevant rock institution on Bowery, as legal complications are forcing its doors to close -- at least, they say, "until we re-open again probably in Las Vegas." This Sunday is the club's last show, and it's a sold-out night with headliner Patti Smith. This gig means the world to some desperate Craigslisters, so we thought we'd help 'em out.

  • Hey there..I am an east village girl who named her pit bull Patti Smith. I've loved Patti since i was a 10 years old - and now in my late 20s, adore her even more. I was sick with bronchitis and out of the loop, and wasnt able to buy a ticket to the CBGB's last show with Patti Smith. I am completely desperate and will do anything for a ticket. I'm also a poor New School student but willing to pay my 2 left feet if i have to...Please please contact me if you have an extra ticket and name your price! I will also do your laundry, clean your dishes, anything, anything... (Pit Bull Patti)
  • I am an artist from Philadelphia. Patti Smith is my all-time favorite musician and poet. Also, I have never been to CBGB and would love to see her perform there. I've got to go to this show!!!! If you sell me two tickets I will pay tickets costs, plus give you a photograph framed of one of my works. Or I can take photographs of you in any setting and send you a whole disk of images. I am in NYC often so this would not be a problem. (Philly Photog)
  • This was the place that I met my wife in 2000... at a Swingin' Neckbreakers gig. It would seem fitting that after 6 of the happiest years of marriage, we could see the final show at CBGB's. I already have one ticket...but really WANT to go with my wife (Patti is her favorite artist - so this would make it even more special!). So, if you've got a BIG heart and have a ticket available... PLEASE contact me... (Save His Marriage)
  • And you know why I do. (Succinct Sue)
  • If you guys don't make it to the show, Sirius plans on broadcasting the gig in its entirety, starting at 9PM. Free! (After subscription.)

In memoriam, we offer this clip from this weekend's SNL, with Poehler doing her best Patti and Armison as Lou Reed. (via Idolator)

i hope people realize you cant SELL tickets for this show. no one has actual tickets. everyone bought with credit cards, and it's all basically a guest list (if you bought two, it's credit holder +1). but good luck to them, anyway!

Fred Armisen's Lou Reed is the exact same as Fred Armisen's Tony Danza...now that's what I call talent
