Highlights From The Thermals' Karaoke Experience @ Studio B

That New York x New York karoake redux thing happened last night in Brooklyn, this time swapping of Montreal for the Thermals as the event's house band, and honestly, we were at home pausing our TiVOs to try and get a better look at Jacob's rocking chair. (Click here to find out who it was in that house. Hint: Not Jacob ... or is it?) From the looks of this video, though, seems like a pretty good time was had by all, pink boas were worn, and the Thermals are used to rocking the '80s.

And since you watching the highlight reel means you a) likely were not there and b) probably stayed home last night and more than possibly watched LOST wherever you were, more straight dope here and here. Couldn't sit though Eli Stone for the Oceanic commercial? Us either. Thanks YouTube!

They mopped the floors with some sort of adhesive so you could not easily dance. real stupid and kind of annoying to even walk.

was this ny mag's idea for crowd control or is it a new thing for studio b?

"that double stuffed orea commercial with the mannings is fucking shit."

Yeah, what a flop... I like Peyton better when he's throwing around a football around and NOT losing to the San Diego Chargers twice in one season including in the divisional round. Ugh...

Oh well, go Giants!

i almost fell on my face, and saw another girl totally fall on her face, because of that ridiculous coating on the floor. it was like glue. who are the ad wizards who came up with that one?

Being glued to the floor and forced to watch loud bad comedy involving inverted rectums is unpleasant.

Good things The Thermals are big fun.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
