How M.I.A. Helped Captain Perfect Get His Groove Back

Indie friendly kids show Pancake Mountain plays host to Kala queen Maya Arulpragasam, and she takes the opportunity to teach the little ones (and Captain Perfect) how to do the sunshowers, step on the cockroach, and get random. Don't think Pancake needs help with the latter. Guaranteed to make you smile! Unless you hate dancing and/or children.

Need more M.I.A.? Head to MayaSpace for a full Kala stream.

I think it unwise for M.I.A. to make such an obvious Lady Sovereign reference, they sound so much alike already.

Cute, but is this stuff actually aired on TV? It looks so cheap. Notice how you can see another camera in the shot on the right hand side of the screen while M.I.A.'s getting random.

Ben, Sovereign did not invent "random."

Pancake Mountain sucks, it's a "kids" show that's really just being made so that it's stoner film-school grad student makers have an excuse to meet hip artists and feel good about themselves. No kid would watch this shit. Remember the Coachella segment where they kept showing the cameramen and the edges of the set while puppets asked asked lily allen stupid "childlike" questions? My three-year old is not going to give a fuck about Lily Allen and I'd much rather have them watching a show that doesn't insult their intelligence and actually tries to teach them shit. Blue's Clues and Sesame Street might not play Cat Power tunes but at least the people there actually focus-group and try to make the shows useful. Fuck hipster kid's shows, dumbest idea ever.

OTC: SHEESH! I'd hate to be your 3 year old. Kids shows should be silly & fun. Focus groups??? Kids should be taught & read to & all that stuff but c'mon, a half hour of silly indie fun a week ain't going to kill them.

But yeah, more stoners probably watch this show than kids. And stoners' kidz.

Could allowing my (theoretical) child to watch a mentally deficient gentleman be considered educating them? Doubt it. And while it's certainly hip, it's fucking annoying.

I still love you M.I.A. Let's have theoretical children together.

I don't think she looks blazed, I think she looks exhausted from working so hard!

wait wait, i just realized this but..

why do they need to greenscreen Captain Perfect in front of a weight room? Can't they just.... find a weight room? And why a weight room? What is wrong with these people.
