J Mascis Learns Not To Cross David In A Guitar Hero Duel

Comedians and Guitar Hero go together like peanut butter and applesauce (try it, it's delicious); remember the Aziz/Armisen GH duel off the Times Square jumbotron? So, no surprise that this clip sees real life guitar hero J Mascis get spanked by David Cross (who starts the bit by mouthing the host's lines off her cue cards, like a less hammered John Stamos). Best part comes via David's post-game interview, and his later explanation of why "AOL rules!" (priceless look at poor Sara's face). Watch it below, and head to AOL for a 'David Explains AOL Lingo' clip which will be entertaining to anyone who ever worked at a dotcom with a whiteboard. Do it for the love of Ronnie Dobbs.

Saw this on Golden Fiddle yesterday.

Fairly entertaining, but I'd prob have gotten more out of it if I'd ever played (or seen anyone play) Guitar Hero. Cross's AOL diss was nice.

This is gonna sounds really dumb, and I'm sure I could just google it, but whatever I have a half million music geeks to ask:

Just got into Guitar Hero ... is there a way to unlock more songs? I'm getting sick of hearing Kansas.

I understand it's no longer cool to think Cross is funny, but goddamn if he doesn't crack me up everytime I see him on someone's video on someone's blog. Which is like, 2 to 3 times a day.

that sara girl is seriously the worst host i have ever seen. she's so awkward in front of the camera it's uncomfortable. she'd fit right in on G4.

I love David Cross, but I wish he'd tone down the knee-jerk "punk rock" "Screw corporate America and lowbrow culture act. I mean we know AOL, Bank of America and Larry the Cable Guy aren't cool or good. He doesn't have to asser himself so needily at every opportunity, like a college freshman at his first protest. Its embarrasing.

Those two men are, uh, the man. The mans? The men? Anyway, yeah, the host is terribly awkward. Maybe that's what they're going for, though, trying to appeal to those awkward hipster youths, dontchaknow. She is cute-ish, though, yes.
