Jane's Addiction Reunite At NME Awards

thumbnail: Jane's Addiction Reunite At NME Awards

All four original members of Jane's Addiction performed together for the first time in too long at the El Rey last night. The occasion was the NME Awards USA, where the legendary LA band accepted a Godlike Genius Award (joining godlike alumni Clash, New Order, and Primal Scream). Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery (the holdout since '91) played "Jane Says," "Mountain Song," "Ocean Size," and "Stop." Reuters reports that Farrell thanked the crowd by "alternately guzzling from a bottle of red wine and dispensing its contents to fans in the mosh pit." Sounds like a show. Here's some shaky cam of "Ocean Size," from a dude rocking out in the front row.

UPDATE: And "Stop"/"Mountain Song"

Jane's Addiction has reunited so many times, it's not all that exciting anymore.

Was it ever exciting? Time has not been kind to their music.

Klaxons, Best International Band???????

Are they from Scotland, or something?
That's considered INTERNATIONAL?

But Eric Avery played bass, that is why it is supposed to feel special. Can't you hear sweet harmony between Perkins and Avery. it's much better than Perkins and Flea, Perkins and Chaney, etc. This is supposed to be exactly like it was back in '89.. The reality is that it ain't, Strays still sucks...

Seriously, Dave Navarro looks fake. There is a point when too much makeup and fake body implants makes you just look boring. Also, I didn't know Under Armour made button downs. i will have to figure out where Perry purchases those.

These guys would rock so much more if they were more like Perkins and Avery.

ERIC AVERY???! i never ever thought that would happen. ugh i'm so sad i missed this.
i will love them forever. i dont think time has been unkind to their music at all, though it is evocative of a time and place for me. but hell, i still listen to psi com...

I am so glad I missed this now legendary performance! This is so under whelming, I cannot stand the excitement! I hope they tour so I can not go to the show when they come to my city!

are you basing your assessments of the show on this crappy audio/video you're seeing on this site?

have you ever been to a Jane's show? Or were you so heavily burdened by your malaise that you couldn't get out the fucking door?

you'd have to give a shit about jane's to understand how monumental this was. not since 1991 has the full line-up played together, with many promises from many people that it would never happen. i tend to feel sorry for people who never got to experience a live jane's show. best live band in the world. if they somehow get together again, don't miss it. seriously.
