Jane's Addiction Reunite In LA

thubmnail icon: Jane's Addiction Reunite In LA

Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, Eric Avery, and Count Farrell performed together last night for the first time since ... well, the first time since April when they were hailed as godlike by NME. Last night's gig at downtown bar La Cita was longer, more intimate, and cost $5 to attend. Buzzbands.la has some nice photos. We have videos of "Ocean Size" and "Whores."

"Whores"

"Ocean Size"

What's next for the band in its original line-up? Eric Avery keeps things vague but hopeful on his blogspot:

we never know what the future has in store for us; especially with this band. but, at least right now janes addiction has a future that one would have to call somewhat promising.

we are a great band.

Here was last night's setlist:

01 "Up The Beach"
02 "Trip Away"
03 "Whores"
04 "One Percent"
05 "Ain't No Right"
06 "Pigs In Zen"
07 "Ted Just Admit It"
08 "Ocean Size"
09 "Hadadad"
10 "Been Caught Stealing"

That's why you don't stand behind the PA to record.

That is, indeed, a mighty fine set-list.

This is all pretty exciting.

Good to see Eric back in the band. Everyone knows that Eric's basslines were the origin of Jane's Addiction.

nice set list. kinda scared of them recording though. don't want a strays part two. with eric back they could do it, i think. hope they do a small venue tour (probably arenas). takes me back to middle school for sure.

Perry's voice sounds a little worn out but then again they always used effects on his vocals live and in the studio anyway. Those late 80's, early 90's Janes shows were the sickest. I avoided the Flea era because he was the wrong bassist for this band. Avery is one of rock's underrated figures and those ominous basslines (especially the intros) gave them their muscle. "MUTHAFUCKA! I NEED A LITTLE MORE!"

"That's why you don't stand behind the PA to record."

Ha! I'd rather listen to that than some dicknose standing directly in front of the PA getting an overly distorted, unlistenable recording.

Here's a professionally shot video of 'Ocean Size'. I really wish I was there.

I actually do hope they record again with Avery. If they do, it won't be 'Strays II' that's for sure.

Oh, and check out Dave's post about the gig here:

two things will always be true:

three days will always be a great song and dave navarro will always be a douchebag.
