John Mayer's Stand Up Routine Caught On YouTube

Over the years John's impressed us more with his blogs than his songs, so naturally we've kept up with reports on his attempts at stand-up. The night Mayer and Jessica Simpson broke up (or maybe they didn't), he wasted no time in trying out some "hey I'm single now!" material at the Comedy Cellar in NYC. Kick back, have some laughts, tip your waitresses...

Looks like he finally found a PC way to do that "women are sluts" routine. You're on you way, J. May!

Every time I want to just embrace the Mayer hatred, he does something like this (prior saves include the Chapelle show appearance and the out-douching of Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet). That, and the fact that he's actually a really good guitarist, really underlines the fact that the MOR music that many of these guys produce does not reflect their true personality.

Actually... maybe that in itself is worthy of hatred.

John Gayer is a standup guy. Quite the gentleman.

he may be on to something here. criticizing other artists and lyrics is easy AND pretty funny. fergie material alone is a good 45-60 minute set.

If he's not Dane Cook, the future looks bright. Dane Cook is the worst "comic" I've ever heard - maybe if he writes some actual jokes I might change my mind.

Dammit! Now what am I supposed to do? John Mayer is just killing it for us comedians!

Check me out and let me know if I should return to the grill at Mickey D's:
