Kanye Mocks Himself, Freestyles On SNL (And "Iran So Far" Digital Short)

Clearly, this couldn't wait 'til Monday. Mr. West gamely mocks his much YouTube'd award show outbursts on Saturday Night Live's Lebron James-hosted season premiere...

"It got champagne in it!"

After the jump, the live performance of "Champion" ending with a clumsy freestyle that's ultimately brave and endearing despite the flub. He never be picture perfect.

We promise the future classic musical digital short with Andy Samberg, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, and Fred Arimsen as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as soon as we find a link.

UPDATE: As promised, here's "Iran So Far." Will it win an Emmy next year? Too soon to tell.

Will Andy Samberg be quoted nonstop by your boyfriend for the next six months? Depends -- what'd he get you for Kwanzaa?

Yo Adam, let's ride...

The best part about the SNL short is that the song is directly lifted from an Aphex Twin tune, "Avril 14th."

Have a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJTQ1lBgH0s

wow, great advertising NBC. i had no idea the season was starting. that really sucks.

god that digital short is great. at the end when jake suddenly shows up, that's probably the funniest part for me.

i didn't see it but it looked really great, better than last season.

Wow. I am shocked. Both the Kanye skit and the Digital Short were both really, really funny. I just don't know what to say. When Andy Samberg's on, he's on.

I thought the show was actually pretty good yesterday. There was a HSM3 skit that I found hilarious where Lebron tried out for the "basketball team".

Kanye needs to take off the damn sunglasses. you're indoors, man. there's no sun.

overall the show was alright. Keenan Thompson is the one cast member I find to be completely unfunny. I don't see how they got rid of Parnell and Sanz and keep paying him to ruin sketches.

the funniest part about the SNL show last night for me was when kanye gave one of the worst free styles in national television history.

Jake G. is in there, which was hilarious, because at the start of the song it says Ahmadinejad looks like a harry jake g.

nice pick-up gl0tch, I was racking my brain for that. doesn't really me bother that all the best lonely island/"snl digital shorts" are music send-ups when they are consistently this smart and funny

the digital shorts are fairly consistently funny...i wish that would rub off on the rest of the show. and something i have suspected for a while is entirely true - lebron james is most boring celebrity in history. it'll be on wikipedia within the hour surely.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately: who's career would I rather see ended, Kanye or Ben Stiller's. Now I'm sure I'm going with Stiller's. At least Kanye made me laugh.

Anyone else realize that the music to the digital short it a total rip from Aphex Twins "Avril 14th". Not complaining, but did you notice?

I'm pretty sure Kanye invented the internet, sliced bread, and the TGIF lineup from 95-97. This short is money.

That "freestyle" by Kanye West was like a read-off from Mad Libs or something: chalk full of laughable cliches, predictable banter and....well, it just sucked.

I agree with others: the Token Black Guy of this season's SNL, Kenan Thompson, is too one-dimensional to fit anywhere.

Lucky for the Token Hispanic Dude, we still have Fred Armisen kicking ass with the ethnic characters.

Btw it's pronounced "E-rAHn", bitch. :)
