Live From New York It's A Fleet Foxes Promo

thumbnail icon: Live From New York It's A Fleet Foxes Promo

This weekend, Fleet Foxes become the sixth "indie" band to play SNL in recent memory. Or seventh. Eighth. Clearly it's a controversial issue that should be resolved immediately because understanding label distribution deals is key to enjoying music. Sarcasm! Anyway, the Seattle folkies have been rehearsing at Studio 8H and shot some promos with the lovely Rosario Dawson, star of Seven Pounds which was terrible, don't argue with me.

They'll be performing "Blue Ridge Mountains" and "Mykonos." Set TiVOs!

My baby thought the guy in the tan jacket was a new member in the band. She was confused why she didn't see him on the stage a few years ago in concert. That got me laughing for a long time.

Your baby? If your baby saw them a few years ago, than the kid has got to be at least 2 or 3 years old now, putting it in the Toddler age range. Time to accept the fact that she is no longer an infant, and is growing up.

Although if the child remembers a concert from a few years ago, that is an incredible capacity for memory and recognition - in fact, you might have a baby genius on your hands here. Especially if she enjoys Fleet Foxes, to make the leap from the simple Twinkle Twinkle melodies to something as detailed as Fleet Foxes shows serious musical potential. We could be looking at a young musical innovator on par with Mozart! Get the girl wonder enrolled in piano lessons! Introduce it to Mahler, Stravinsky, and Glass! The sky's the limit!

I thought this was interesting:
"who wrote this?"
"the fleet foxes"
..."no *he* didn't"

apparantly, the band knows who the fleet foxes really is: that guy down over there.

They say "we didn't"...

Is robin sitting down, or is he standing on some lower part of the stage? WTF is going on?

True, you don't have to understand the distribution of your favorite bands / labels to enjoy their music...

Also true, you shouldn't make posts on the internet about how a label works when you have no fucking clue....

Is it just me, or does Robin look mildly-retarded as he shakes his head and says, "mhmm... mhmm"

As sad as it is to admit, the sitting down gag was for you guys. I also tried to get the falcon puppet from the Falconer sketch (which, pie in the sky, Josh and I would make a cameo in.. DONALD!!!) but I guess they keep the falcon off site.

My other SNL idea that won't make the cut was to cut off all my hair in between the two songs. Also, if anyone knows any good shirt stores (plaid optional) please let me know!

Oh you jokety jokester.

I think the only thing to do now is to not only stand up Saturday night but go the extra mile and pull a Win Butler by smashing your guitar.

I enjoy this running gag.

It better be the "Kristen Whig fucking exeperience" tonite or all bets are in the air...Fred's another wild card...(It already has Blue RM going against it). And if they really wanted to do things right...what about a new one...that would be balls.
