Lost Recording Of A Christina Aguilera/Neil Diamond Duet

It's true! As played by Kate Hudson and Will Ferrell, though, for this never-before-aired SNL sketch. Will offers up his hammy Neil imitation (which is a side-parting and a set of shades away from his take on Goulet), with a glimpse at future film star Ron Burgundy ("By the beard of Odin!"), while Kate takes the opportunity to show you she's a good candidate for the inevitable inaugural season of Celebrity American Idol.

How does a live show have unaired parts?

I can see why this was unaired. It's awful.

It's sad, but this would probably be one of the best skits of 2007 if SNL aired it today.

They do a final dress rehearsal in front of an audience right before they do the live show (in front of a different audience). There are a couple of skits more in that dress rehearsal than there are in the live show. They decide which skits get the axe based on the audience's reaction, I think.

this skit is awful, but will ferrell is killing me!

"i swallowed a condom full of scorpion venom and if it bursts i will die, but believe me before i go down i will wear a child's bikini--damn i'm good!"

holy crap.

with the judd apatow/seth rogen crowd making movies constantly.. what use does america have for will ferrell?

Anytime Ferrel does Neil Diamond it's gold, but nick is right, Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow are the new champs. I saw a facebook-only screening of Superbad last night and it's funnier than anything Ferrel has done in about 2 or 3 years.

huh, and here i was enjoying both apatow and ferrell's work. i didn't realize there could be only one, some sort of comedy highlander.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
