Mad About Lute

I'm a huge Police fan, and ... ok, a Sting fan too. (Up until 1991 those were some incredible albums, really!) But even I draw the line somewhere.

In an exclusive interview with Sting.com, Sting has revealed his latest project - an album of sixteenth century music performed on the lute. The album will be released in the autumn on the classical label Deutsche Grammophon.
The LP is all lute with some four part harmonies, and if Mr. Sumner convinces Diddy or Twista to remix it, I may have to burn my copy of Dream Of The Blue Turtles out of spite.

However, I'll always love Scrantonicity (YouTube). [That episode = so best.]

It's a miracle Andy and Stewart were able to reign in Sting's pretension for as long as they did. You can see the seams splitting at the end: Synchronicity is a great album, but there are definite signs of "wank" even then. It's so sad that Sting intentionally disappeared up his own ass, only to emerge as a refugee from a renaissance fair.

Also, I meant "rein," not "reign." Dammit.

I loves me some Police...especially older stuff -- I got the box set! In all honesty, I'm way more interested in hearing an album full of lute whatever than any of the godawful VH1 fodder Sting(k) has been cranking out for the past decade or so.

Ha. It was bound to come out sooner or later. I gotta be honest.

No I love Soul Cages. I should've wrote 'up until 1993' I suppose.

I'm more pissed that DG is doing "crossover." Bet it'll still be better than that Billy Joel "Classical" album.

Speaking of Scrantonicity, when are going to have that important conversation about the season-ending "Office" cliffhanger?
