Morrissey Brings "Black Cloud" To Jimmy Fallon

thumbnail icon: Morrissey Brings "Black Cloud" To Jimmy Fallon

This week Morrissey has been in town to inspire hugs and histrionics from crowds in small rooms with awesome sound (Bowery Ballroom last Saturday), stately rooms with awesome sound (Carnegie Hall this Thursday), and Webster Hall tomorrow night. In the spaces between he's found time to dip down to Philly for a full-on performance, and last night he and his band of black t-shirted gentlemen found time to visit the Jimmy Fallon show. The choice is Years Of Refusal's "Black Cloud," which is just a decent cut from one of Moz's strongest LPs in years, but live it's all about the melodramatic looks, and the inspiring richness of that voice. Also there's a hint of tension between Jimmy and Moz through that weird "Thanks, buddy!"/lack of eye contact/nervous handshake/walk away at song's end. Or maybe that's just how Jimmy rolls.

Previously in Moz on late night TV: "Something Is Squeezing My Skull" on Kimmel.

Years Of Refusal is out 2/17 on Attack/Lost Highway.

Yeah, that 2nd handshake was kind of weird. And in completely related news, I'm going to Webster Hall very early tomorrow night and staking a spot close to the stage. I wanna catch one of the Moz' Gucci shirts.

Why didn't he play "All you need is me"? He's not playing it live either. Here's to hoping he includes it tomorrow, cause I'm going to that other place, not included in the awesome sound award.

And maybe Jimmy Fallon wanted to give a second handshake because Morrissey saluted him with his left hand the first time around.

Dezzey~were you only joking when you said "weird", maybe I too could clearly see your point with smoked-out geezer eyes trying to peer thru a Black Cloud after Years of Refusal ? try not to think and enjoy the concert.

jimmy fallon probably spent his entire adolescence singing along to "there is a light that never goes out" in his room alone and therefore couldn't deal with mozzer as a real man
