Morrissey Shows Letterman "That's How People Grow Up"

Well, we get to see a whole lot more Moz in this clip than the camera-phone YouTube of a few weeks ago. (We also get to see a very bubbly opera singer.) Though throat issues had him bail on MSG last week, he's in fine form here: robustly crooning, still finding silver linings in automotive wrecks, working a debonair coif. Gotta love the Letterman interaction at clip's end; something about Dave saying "Morrissey, nice to see ya!" is just priceless.

Having heard her play with previous bands decades ago in St. Louis, I'd like to say she was good when she opened for Morrissey there in May. I really would like to say that. Instead, all I can say is that she had really interesting Bjork-like outfit and not so interesting similar musical style.

Stereogum doesn't mention that a plate of ribs "accidentally" appeared on the show, with Dave and a couple of other guys later feasting on them. Not only is Morrissey a staunch vegetarian, but Dennis Kucinich, another guest on that show, is a vegan. This started a whole comment shitstorm under the last news item for this TV appearance over on morrissey-solo.com. Might the eating of the ribs contributed to Morrissey's illness?

I believe there's a "no food allowed" requirement for those attending his shows, funnily enough.

Actually, his concert contract stipulates that the venue can't sell non-veggie food.

Wow, then Moz is gonna LOVE it at Chastain in Atlanta, where people bring their favorite roasted/grilled/baked animal flesh and enjoy it with lavish wine/candle/tablecloth spreads as the peformer supplies the dinner music.

Kristeen Young is completely awful.

I love me some Moz but he and his band are sure starting to stick to a formula - this just sounds like You Have Killed Me 2 - The Reckoning

a case of lack-o-ticket-itis

Witness the polarizing power of Kristeen Young: reason #135543 why I don't get on with other Morrissey fans.

To me, she's one of the few examples of perfect musical taste the Mozzer has ever displayed. Good on him for getting her on TV, even if it means she's gonna get "Bjork" for the rest of her life instead of "Kate Bush."

Frankly, Mr. Shankly, heaven knows I'm miserable now.

Not an opera singer. Just so we're clear.

Moz doesn't sound that hot to me (strained voice, pitch issues), but he sure does rock the debonair coif, God love him.
