Nas Explains Album Title To White Girl

Nas was planning to call his new album Nigga, then decided to cut to the chase. And we thought Charlie Rose dropping Diddy was awkward. If you weren't aware of the controversy, this video of Nas and an uncomfortable Vegas interviewer might clue you in a bit.

Then again, maybe not, since neither of them "take the power from the word" by actually saying it. Love this, though: "It's just an album, so it's not like a Civil Rights march." And across the dial, shock jocks are pushing it to #1 on Amazon as we type. Bravo, Nas! It's out 12/11.

Fucking love Nas. I hate that him and Jay-Z made nice. Don't get me wrong, I like Jay-Z also, but I would've preferred to hear Nas slap him around for the rest of his career than see them kiss and make up.

did odb get this much hype for calling his album "nigga please" or did the "please" part make all the difference? "hip hop is dead" and now this!...so controversial that nas!!

the controversy's that he was going to call it "nigga," but decided to go full-on and call it "nigger." that's the controversy. it becomes really different the second you change it to the latter.

"You got Nas here doing what I do..."

This is my problem with HipHop artists: They have to say their own name all the time. He's not trying to "Take back the word", he's trying to sell records, and I don't think it's even just for the money and the shiney necklaces, it's for the glory. They want to be known as the next Almighty. It's a very weak/disgusting pursuit of fame.

You want some good hip hop that is Controversial in style rather than album title, pick up Subtle "For Hero:For Fool". there are some boys that can make some music out of hip hop without having to have song after song that is just about how awesome they are.

i wish nas were still relevant because he continues to make amazing music, as opposed to simply picking controversial album titles for his underwhelming records. sigh. i'm gonna go listen to "illmatic" again.

i personally don't give a fuck what his album is called. the ultra-white mentality of tiptoeing around the title's name is pretty pathetic, too.

dear folks in charge: punish social racism if you have to, but grow some balls.

I think NAS will be surprised when he sees that his white fan base is not buying this album in stores because of this title. You may however see more sales online at the Amazons and Itunes of the world. As Tupac's song says "Thats just the Way it is"

Nas album called Nigga is going to explain the word "Nigga" to to us, and why we should not use it and why do we use it. I think its great that he is goin to discuss this because it is an hard topic in the U.S.A it was made here, white people who are running the country and the music business don't want this album to come out cause this will make both white and black people think twice about use and expressing this word. this word was bought and made out of hate and use to bring black people down and it good to express the the pain of the past because it will make the future better for black and white poeple so to those who are trying to stop this album from coming out shame on you ! Also to Nas if he reads this i been an fan since i an little kid, don't let them stop from doing what know what is right to do we need more artirst like you who won't mainly talk money, cars, and sex thank you for being a real dude or nigga sike. when the album comes out i'm getting two copies.
