Neil Young On The Daily Show

And what you missed after the commercial break:

JON: Before we go, we're gonna check in with our good friend Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report. Stephen!
STEPHEN: Hey Jon, lemme tell you something. Neil Young is the best songwriter of the last forty years. The man sings it like it is. Remember his great song about Kent State? Where the brave National Guardsmen take on those anti-American peacenik hippies? Great stuff.
JON: Uh. Actually, Stephen, I think you might've missed the point of that song.
STEPHEN: I dunno Jon. Great music can be interpreted in many ways ... although mine is the only correct one. Hey, tell him to say hi to Crosby and Nash for me!
JON: Alright, I'll do that Stephen.
STEPHEN: Not Stills though. Screw that guy.

Does anyone have a video of Neko Case on the Tonight Show? I didn't catch it last night.

And uh...Dave, Neil Young is from Toronto.

I liked the way j-stew was fawning over shakey... He seemed genuinely excited to get the chance to do the interview...

I completely agree with Chico. Seemed like Stewart was making sure Neil new he was big fan. I thought the funniest part is when Neil apologizes to his dog Carl. Hilarious...

And Neil's right: His best concerts are the ones where he plays a bunch of songs no one has heard. In the middle of his tour with the Bluenotes, he reeled off about half of "Freedom" before it was released, including "Ordinary People," an awesome song we still don't have on a record.

I believe this is one of only a handful of times I've actually seen Jon star struck while interviewing a guest. It's always fun to see who people we'd go ga-ga over go ga-ga over.

Any Neil fan will love this movie. The short 30 second banter between songs are incredible.

Well he's DEFINITELY the greatest Canadian. Not that he has a lot of competition.

"Neil's pretty much the greatest American rock musician ever"

Last time I checked, Canada was in North America.
Therefore I think Dave's comment is valid.
