New Amanda Palmer Video - "Oasis"

thumbnail icon: New Amanda Palmer Video - "Oasis"

You don't want to see the words "Oasis" and "NSFW" appear on the same line, but no worries: This Michael Pope-directed clip doesn't involve living/breathing Liam and Noel, though they do make a surprise appearance. Breaking from previous installments of the Who Killed Amanda Palmer series, the video finds Palmer going to a party, drinking a 40 too fast, getting date raped by a barbarian, subsequently getting an abortion, and dealing with anti-abortion protesters, etc., etc. For all that, it's quite cheery.

(Via P4K)

Ostensibly Palmer dedicated the video to Sarah Palin. That was nice of her.

Who Killed Amanda Palmer is out now via Roadrunner.

I found this almost too annoying to listen to.

this was just plain bad. artists should not get political. I'm not sure who she was making fun of in the end...

I read it was Ben Folds' idea to include this on the album. Which is not surprising.

Can you imagine hanging out with the singer? Loud, annoying. She's an overgrown 17 year old bitch.

maybe it's not your cup of tea "cutie" but it's definitely good to see you're judging the music/video on important things such as what she'd be like to "hang out with"...

moron.

I was going to take my frustrations out on this but then I watched it again and laughed at the fact that her abortion was via a Joy Mangano Huggable Hangah.

How can an album have a track as stunning as "Strength Through Music" also have one as pitiful as this? Meh.

What the hell happened? The first Dresden Dolls album was amazing. But it has been all down hill since then.

artists should net get political? what planet are you on?
the whole point of art is to communicate a certain subject viewed through the artists eyes.
and yes, she has hairy armpits, darling. it's all natural.
even if you don't like the song/video clip, there is absolutely no need to bag the crap out of it.
difference of opinion, m'dears.

You've got it dead on - this is not a political statement, it's comedic satire with over-the-top scenery chewing to sell the joke. It's sick and wrong, but the execution is clever and hilarious - the directing, editing and performances are so spot on I can't stop watching it and being entertained by it how pitch perfect it all is. I mean seriously, by the end you've got the boyfriend studying the bible, the protesters making out with the doctors, the vapid smiling nurses are feeding a baby the bottle of booze and all the while her laid back rapist is along for the ride, confidently eating his chips.

Rape and abortion are serious issues, but this is not a serious song/video - it's a romp. If anything, I think the REAL statement here is about Oasis fans, right...? ;o)

As a music video I give it an A+. As for the song? It's infectiously upbeat and relentlessly catchy with very clever and amusing lyrics. The joke may be dark, but it's skillfully executed.

Amanda Palmer is a social climbing Scientologist and part of a network of Scientologists who continually promote each other. She is involved with Scientologist Neil Gaiman who has given over $100,000.00 to the CULT. Amanda Palmer is a narcissistic talentless, caterwauling hack who makes up for her ineloquence and dreadful songwriting abilities with tantrum throwing, exposing the world to her underwear, rape stories and bisexuality. She is trying to copy the salesmanship of fellow Scientologist Tori Amos but with even less talent. Scientologists think the internet is a big superstore where they continually promote each other at our expense. The sooner Palmer goes away, the better for our ears. What an idiot.
