New Bat For Lashes - "Daniel (Lo Fi Version)"
Natasha Khan's gorgeous new CD Two Suns comes with a bonus MP3 you can download from a special website. Once your disc is inserted, head to pushentertainment.com, give them all your info, and the gift from Pearl is yours to keep. The song is a Lo Fi Version of "Daniel," the song-of-the-year contender that at once evokes Kate Bush and Ralph Macchio. It's a stripped and chillier reworking of the single and if you own the CD it's worth tracking down. But the rest of you don't have to miss out. Over the weekend, Natasha performed the version with Ben Christophers on Marxophone in a laser field on UK's E4. Here's what it looked and sounded like.
Two Suns is out now via Astralwerks.

Great version. I want one of those Marxophone things. And a laser field.

Whoa, this version is delicious. Who would've thought less is more with Bat for Lashes production?

I think it's funny that the same people who would make fun of Tori Amos or Kate Bush are into Bat for Lashes just because she's hot, and yes I know people like this, that's why I'm saying it. It pisses me off.

Kinda dull... type of thing if it was on SNL I would change the channel. She does look like Lily Allens body double tho.

Bats for lashes. She's really boring, I don't understand what the deal is.
I mean it's not offensively bad, but I don't know why she's riding the hype-machine like there's no tomorrow when her music is ok to goodish, at best.

Can that not be asked about pretty much 75% of Indie Rock? We get overly exited about mediocre acts because most of us are relegating our purchases only to artists who will never go platinum or have broad appeal.
I'm not even even saying that its a bad thing, but its a thing. I mean, if we only got exited over bands that were actually great (meaning releasing albums without weak tracks, putting out interesting music and great live) we would only be allowed to lget exited by a handful of bands...
Oh wait. I'd rather do that instead of pretend every band I like is the best band going... nevermind.
SNAP- O! I said it- O!

I'd rather listen to this: http://stereogum.com/archives/video/new-nite-jewel-video-lover_063081.html or Little Boots or Memory Cassettes.

Girl with a keyboard = Kate Bush now? What the fuck is this world coming to?
Score = 2
Her voice is nothing short of phenomenal; this girl can do no wrong. Well, playing her Seattle show at a 21+ venue is wrong, but I meant musically.

I've never been a big B4L fan, but this version of this song, along with a Scott Walker appearance is starting to win me over.
