New Bat For Lashes Video - "Daniel"

thubmnail icon: New Bat For Lashes Video - "Daniel"

When posting about favorite Two Suns moments -- opener "Glass" with its Brian Chippendale drums, "The Big Sleep"'s Scott Walker turn, and the new single "Daniel" -- I called the latter a "chilly, running-in-the-dark dance-floor love song." How about a chilly, driving-in-the-dark love song? Which is what an in-training Natasha Khan does after fighting off faceless, Knife-esque modern dancers (seemingly made of cinder and rain) in the song's rather excellent Johan Renck-directed video. As you might have noticed when we posted "Daniel"'s cover art yesterday, Khan's indeed addressing Daniel LaRusso (aka Ralph Macchio) from The Karate Kid. Fittingly, Daniel-san shows up as well.

Between this and Handsome Furs' "I'm Confused," it's a good week for creepy chase videos that end in embraces.

Two Suns is out 4/6 via Astralwerks. It's got Yeasayer's Ira Wolf Tuton playing bass on this track and "Pearl's Dream."

I love this song alot, and the album is pretty good but I am NOT getting visual /design aesthetic she is going for. The album cover is like a crappy photoshop boff and this video is teenage goth but not in a cool way. Colour me confused

I'm a Huge fan, but this video is pretty bad... I get the all crappy Karate Kid concept, but... This is just bad. I'll stick with the What's a girl to do video...
