New Bat For Lashes Video - "Pearl's Dream"

thumbnail icon: New Bat For Lashes Video - "Pearl's Dream"

Natasha Khan's newest Two Suns video treatment features the same slo-mo dreaminess as Letterman-approved "Daniel," but with less of a sinister (and modern dancing and Karate Kid) feel. New single "Pearl's Dream," the track she chose to close out her pre-encore set at Bowery and MHOW, gives us Khan in form-fitting garb (complete with wings borrowed from Brandon Flowers), a homemade solar system, lots of smoke and steam, and a cagey wolf. Yeasayer's Ira Wolf Tuton plays bass on the track (as well as "Daniel"), but we're not sure if it's a reference to him, or just because every good new age-y pop video should include a wolf. Clearly in the know, a second Khan wearing a blond wig and dressed for sadistic business, applauds the performance.

Two Suns is out via Astralwerks.

Is it me, or are there far more louder drums in the video compared to the album version?

Eh. I like the new album and i like the other videos she's made. But the whole Pearl as a seperate identity is a little high school for me.

All that is missing are Power Rangers and Simon LeBon. This is like a nicely aged 80s Velvetta. Cheese-- Kate Bush should sue this chick!

I normally hate it when the song is changed for the video/single (and Natasha does it all the time!), but I'm actually liking this more than the album version.
