New Battles Video - "Tonto"

Where their classic clip for "Atlas" left Battles as illuminated and exposed as possible (well lit in a windowed 'n' Mirrored cube), the LP's second vid flips the math-y equation, setting the NYC prog-groove heroes in a tempo-shifting triangle of minimal, cylindrical light. Yeah. Practically waiting for Mulder and Scully to roll up. Amazing live band, amazing album, sure ... but these clips are making Battles look like freakish alien superheroes. May not be far from the truth.

Hot damn. Was this one done by Timothy Saccenti too?

Cool. I particularly like that it seems to be done "for real", and not made up with tons of animation.

I'm not generally into this kind of stuff, but that was quite intriguing!

As far as videos go, I think it's actually better than the video for 'Atlas'. But Atlas is a better song over all.

This is a huge compliment too. Battles - Atlas, is my video of the year.

The video was shot by Crighton Bone, a really amazing new DoP who shoots a lot of promos and indie features. They shot it at the bottom of a slate mine in Wales.
