New Bloc Party Video - "Talons"

thumbnail icon: New Bloc Party Video - "Talons"

When Intimacy rush-released a few weeks ago, most of us agreed it's better than A Weekend In The City. (Also most of us agreed that wasn't saying very much.) Well here's more new music which you can sound off upon. "Talons" is the band's next single, recorded during the Intimacy sessions but saved as a non-album track for bonus publicity an exciting surprise to fans. If you purchased the digital album, you had it delivered to you I guess via email after it premiered last night. If you did not, you can check it via the band's new video. It's pretty much a straight up dance track through the verses, (dance-rock through the hook), and it features Kele in a fit of self-hate, confessing "I have been arrogant, I have been wicked." He's shirtless, which may be part of the problem. Or it may just be the way he communicates with himself. I don't judge.

"Talons" will get a traditional release, although I don't know what that means anymore, on 10/20. You can get it immediately if you buy the Intimacy LP, which is available digitally via blocparty.com.

Better than almost everything on Intimacy except for "Halo." Figures they wouldn't put the good song on the album.

Got to disagree ... this song belongs on AWITC. Tripe that would have been among the worst songs on Intimacy.

i'm not sure about this record, i first thought that it was better than A Weekend....after three days later i changed my mind. It became another usual record for me except the song Mercury. In my opininion this is one of the best indie rock song of the year. Simple and GOOD. There are also other great songs like TAlons, Better Than Heaven and Ares:9 byee

People like this? Wow. Ok. It's really terrible. Isn't this impossible to tell apart from horrible, generic turn of the century "electronica?" Yeah. Anyway, I'm hungry. I think I'll get something to eat.

like with CSS,i think there's a certain appeal americans find in loving foreign-produced music that would normally sound SHITTY if left to the usual standards.
a weekend' was an epic suckfest, this album ain't so bad but its average at best.

I still haven't figured out the AWITC hate. I can see its initial backlash, considering it was so different both in sound and theme from Silent Alarm. But did you people just want Silent Alarm Redux? Granted, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it's a decently good album.

Bloc Party took big steps forward with both AWITC and Intimacy. I'd rather have a band do that, try new things, and succeed for the most part rather than put the same album out three times. You indie hipsters need to figure that out. Hell, Pitchfork gave AWITC a 7.5; isn't that enough for you to like it??
