Oh god, is that Miranda July?

Moody little song, but not bad. Last time I heard Blonde Redhead, they sounded more like Sonic Youth. What happened?

She looks like a skinny Tori Amos...interesting.

that's quite a voice she has. Nice chord changes in the bridge.
still, too "drum-machine"y for me.

Does anyone else think the middle-aged Shirley Temple doppelganger is two seconds away from dislocating a hip in half of those shots?

Anyways, Blonde Redhead rocks as always.

I was also thinking that was Miranda July.

Which would make sense considering her "performance art" reputation and her 1-2 year hiatus from awesome movies.

Can anyone confirm? I'm curious.

Nice song, too.

That's a pretty savage stack of pedals he has there. Love this song!

Also, where's the bassist? Can be heard, but not seen.

Miranda July just released a new book of short stories. Many of them are, as all of her projects are, weird, but touching.

Really ? Your review seems very generous.

Unsolicited compliment: Dear Ms. July, I have to admit, I've been suspicious of you as an artist for indefinable and probably indefensible reasons, so I haven't really given you a chance, but that website charmed the pants of my brain, which is now sitting around in its underwear. I might even pick up that book of yours. Good job.

P.S. Sorry to derail the publicity for Blonde Redhead.

miranda july=number one artist stupid people mention when they want to sound smart. if that "awesome movie" she made is deep, or insightful, or has anything substantial to offer on any level whatsoever, than i'm actually tom wopat.

as usual, blonde redhead tears shit up though. and jed2, they haven't sounded like sonic youth since the early 90's.

I haven't seen her movies or seen any art or read anything by her, probably because I had a feeling about her like what you described, but I liked her book website a lot. That's all.

I probably haven't heard any of the newer Blonde Redhead, then, but I could have sworn I heard a newer album a few years ago that sounded like Sonic Youth.

Anyway, anyone's better than Zack Braff.

The '90s ended, among other things.

It's odd that it was that long ago that they sounded so different.
I guess I haven't been paying attention to new music since like, well, EVER.

I've moved up from unstudied scorn for Miranda July to ambivalence, with an appreciation for her book's website. I'm not going to bash her. I could bash an awful lot of people that show up in the indie media on a much more regular basis. But I won't.

Can someone reupload the Blonde Redhead on Conan video? And this time, don't mention Conan in the description or tags? Fucking "copyright" nazis. It's not like seeing the performance on youtube will prevent us from buying it on DVD, since it doesn't exist.

Somebody's bitter. Oh no, I want to sound smart because I enjoyed an arty movie that some pretentious guy who your girlfriend probably left you for claims to like.

Or maybe I think you want to sound smart because you no doubt want to tell us: how much of Blonde Redhead's discography you know, how long you've been listening to them and how you always expect them to make good records. People who want to sound smart always reference how they know the "whole" discography, right?

Or maybe you just like Blonde Redhead and I just like Me and You and Everybody We Know and we should respect each other's ability to like art without wanting to make a statement by choosing what we like.

It's tragically hip. I dig.
I'm gradually starting to love this band.
