New Bright Eyes Video - "Four Winds"

Bright Eyes enlisted the directorial savvy of Patrick Daughters (who has helmed vids for The Shins, YYYs, Kings Of Leon, Death Cab) for the first from Cassadaga. The clip's protagonist and his band (including a harmonizing Maria Taylor on drums) antagonize a country fair type crowd with the sorta music that really oughta make the audience square dance or whatever. Instead, the punters begin chucking trash at poor Oberst. Either it's symbolic of how he'll just never be accepted by traditionalists like he should be, or the extras weren't feeling the long hair.

Can't wait for the new album. Maria looks great on drums, but what's with Conor's hair?

whatever, this guy takes a lot of shots because he's not man man or grizzly bear, but he still writes a hell of a good tune... so what if he's topical.

the video leaves a lot to be desired though.

i thought it was funny that the redneck crowd had a seeming unlimited supply of trash. Do concerts in the midwest double as landfills?

Why were they throwing such boring shit onto the stage?
Some vegetables or bottles would have made it a lot more exciting.

there were 23 pieces of paper trash thrown. there were 23 eye blinks by Maria Taylor. if you play the crowd heckling backwards it says, "jiiiiiiimmmmmmm cccarrrrrrrrrrrreeeeyyyyyyyyyy, tthhheee maaassskkkk"

I love Bright Eyes but I think the video could have been better...maybe less crowd noise, more violence? The song is good though, as usual. Kindof country-tinged.

I kind of like the hair, not cause it looks good just cause he doesn't look like he's an emo kid now. I remember someone telling me that Bright Eyes music sounded like emo and I know it was because of the hair.

The video isn't that bad, not the best video I've ever seen, but certainly not the worst. Oh yeah, and there defiantly could have been more violence :)

Seems like a Fall Out Boy moment.

I love this video! It's so different than any of their previous ones. I think Conor's hair looks a lot nicer now that it's grown out. I think it's insulting to Bright Eyes to compare them to Fall out boy, because IMO they're SO much better.

The video was a little weird but I really loved it, mostly because I am a Conor Oberst and Maria Taylor fangirl and I liked all of the nice close ups of the two of them. (:

Did anyone else LOL when they threw those Pimp Dice at Conor? XD

Yeah...I wasn't crazy about the video, a little but boring but the video is totally unimportant because Conor Oberst is amazing as a songwriter and I'm also a HUGE fan of Maria Taylor. Yeah...let's stop calling everything emo...pretty annoying. Who cares! Conor is still great!

The setting of the video is a Gram Parsons nod.

Bright Eyes isn't close to Gram.

I don't think either of the symbolism that was predicted is correct, I mean really, there are no truths, only opinions and perspectives, in each person's head, we are right, and whate not, but I believe it has to do witht he fact, that no one wants to hear the truth about society. The song four winds, is clearly a song stating how fucked our country/society is as a whole, the trash throwing, are the people throwing hatred towards him because their simplistic closed brainwashed minds aren't able to accept the truht and make a change. Conor is in many ways my hero, he is simply brilliant. Every song of his is beautiful in it's own way, he's a wonderful lyricist, and his beliefs are absolutely brilliant. For those who do not liek conor, that's okay, although i feel, one's not so fondness of him shows they may not understand his beautiful complexity, none the less, peace.
