New Calexico Video - "Two Silver Trees"

thumbnail icon: New Calexico Video - "Two Silver Trees"

Joey Burns and John Convertino's Carried To Dust is out this fall. As mentioned when we posted spare, subtle "Two Silver Trees," the album includes the helping hands of various friends like pedal steel player Paul Niehaus, bassist Volker Zander, and multi-instrumentalists Martin Wenk and Jacob Valenzuela along with Sam Beam, Douglas McCombs, Pieta Brown, etc. That said, "Two Silver Trees"'s video finds Burns and Convertino, Calexico proper, by their lonesome in a bar and an airplane burial ground. The visuals are fleshed out via the buildings, people, colorful murals, and dusty landscape of Calexico's lovely hometown of Tucson, Arizona.

Makes me want to move there. Also, looking at the fields of rusted-out planes reminded me of Burns's story about the "manmade lake full of cell phone trees."

Wig-O-Rama! Club Congress! The Bone Yard!
Tucson is lovely. Too bad there isn't much for the youngs to do, but they do manage to get some good shows.

very iron and winey. Like the first song off our endless numbered days. but I suppose that happens when two bands tour and bang chicks together.

I like Calexico, and I seem to remember there being more than just two people in the band. Also, what is he trying to prove with that soul patch under his lip? If they want to reach a younger, hipper audience they should maybe rock out a bit more, instead of playing layed back Dad Rock (which I love of course) and growing facial hair old enough to be their daughter.
