New Chris Cornell Live Video - "Billie Jean"

Right, so we've already heard Chris pay unplugged tribute to MJ, but now we got video and a full-on, blues-rocky band. Good news is Chris's voice sounds amazing as always. Bad news, we got video and a full-on, blues-rocky band. Why does he look so awkward? It's like he doesn't know what to do with his hands (or himself).

awful.
by the way, at least with audioslave (and why would it be different now?), dude had a clause in his contract for 'live' stuff like this that allows him to re-dub his vocals later.

Awful. Chris Cornell should commit suicide.

His problem, as ever, is he sounds cool and interesting wailing over very heavy records, and reeelly reeelly boring over anything softer.

i give them props for doing a cover that sounds different from the original. but it is boring. it feels like they're trying too hard.

What do you want the man to do .... the moon walk?? I didn't go to Chris' Chicago concert to see the man dance. I went to hear his incredible pipes and his old AND new music.

He is fantastic in concert and his backup band are a joy to watch and listen to.

A clause to re-dub live stuff? Do you have a copy of his contract? Are you his lawyer or manager that you've actually seen this? Just curious!!!

Is that an SNL parody, or a genuine jackass?

This guy has one of the worst fucking voices I've ever heard. Any naysayers about Cornells lack of ability to sing realllly need to go and rewatch that version of "Pretty Noose" that Soundgarden did on SNL ten years ago. He hasn't gotten much better since.

I like it.

I scored a free pair o tix for his show tonight in Baltimore, but I'm still undecided. See, my *wonderful* girlfriend decided that she needed to dump my ass last night. Needless to say, I don't really see myself going out tonight. I'd rather have a date with my Smiths albums and/or Blood On The Tracks.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked it.

All the people who complain, I havent heard any of the stuff you sing, but I guess there are those who do, and those who critique.

Cant you enjoy life? Or is it meaningless unless you complain?

It does drag a little bit, but Chris Cornell is awesome.

he has an amazing voice, and is always willing to take on something outside of his comfort zone.

looking forward to his solo album.

Incredible...Saw him last night in Baltimore best live show and most inredible voice. Well worth standing in Rams Head 3 hours waiting before he came on.

His version totally rocked balls! He has a great raspy, bluesy voice. It made MJ's version forgetful. Most certainly will be downloaded once available.

ew, there are people who like this guy's vocals? why? he's handy if you need to send a pack of wild dogs running in the other direction, but other than that...

Hrm. A wide variety of opinions. Here's mine: I dig this guy's voice. I've still got a cassette copy of "Louder Than Love". But...though the cover passes the "sufficiently altered from the original" test, I feel like it's more of a Twilight Singers cover than a Michael Jackson cover. Anyone who likes this and is unfamiliar with Greg Dulli/Twilight Singers: BECOME FAMILIAR.

agreed that the "rock" version of this cover isn't very interesting. i do however love the dark acoustic solo version. much cooler. to digress and address the Voice in general... what i *really* don't get is how one shite performance on SNL = bad voice for all time. man, did 'pretty noose' suck on SNL in 1996! horrid!! but i've seen this guy sing in person many, many times (most recently 4-23-07) and there's really nothing like it. what a voice. chills.

I really like the darker, soulful version that Cornell does. Man, his voice gives me chills- in a good way. Saw him perform this live on his current tour and it blew me away. He sounded fabulous (better than he has in years, imo.)
