New Chromeo Video - "Momma's Boy"

thumbnail icon: New Chromeo Video - "Momma's Boy"

After the pizza truck side panels come to life of the "Tenderoni" video, a minimal, two-tone traced animation clip seems understated to the point of reverse excess. Especially for Chromeo. But that all serves to underscore something you don't often get from the jokey duo (who readily admit that their tunes are "somewhat anti-intellectual" ): "Momma's Boy" is actually a clever pop song straight and on its face, talking up Oedipal and Electra complexes...

You've got it so bad / when the only boy you know is your dad / And boy you got it so wrong when you look into her eyes and all you see is your mom

...to the tune of the best Hall & Oates song Hall & Oates never wrote. (UPDATE: Turns out Chromeo's the next guest on Live From Daryl's House. Who's not surprised.)

This one got an FNMTV premiere on Friday, which means it also got an awkward, fueled-by-Wentz interview. I missed it. I'm glad. Fancy Footwork: Deluxe Edition is out via Vice.

Never hear of this group before....I was worried when I heard the voice effects, but it turned out to be a good song. Like the video.
