New Department Of Eagles Live Video - "Herring Bone" (DUMBO Session)
Dan Rossen Month continues with another cut from the Department Of Eagles DUMBO session that brought us the unreleased "1997," featuring Dan and Fred alone in a Brooklyn room with a view. This live "Herring Bone" is stripped of In Ear Park's arrangements and accouterments, presented here in its piano-man core, unadorned but for a few touches of Fred's rhythmic support. Rossen digs up a little grit in his voice when he sings live, and somehow that helps compensate for the absence of Chris Taylor's studio touches.
In Ear Park is out via 4AD. Some of you've been asking for live MP3s, so head here for a rip of that great alternate "No One Does It Like You" and to iGIF for the full Bell House set. And remember, Dan and Ed still love each other.

This song sounds like it could have been on Midlake's "Trials of Van Occupanther". Love it. Love this whole album -- it's what I've been waiting for without realizing it.
