New Fever Ray Video - "Triangle Walks" (Stereogum Premiere)

thumbnail icon: New Fever Ray Video - "Triangle Walks" (Stereogum Premiere)

Continuing in the dark path of "When I Grow Up" and its precursor "If I Had A Heart," Karin Dreijer's assembled another creepy, eerie, visually stunning clip for Fever Ray's "Triangle Walks." Basically we get Dreijer's in her face paint with other shadowy bodies amid blue shadows and a fringed, bar-fly lampshade that occasionally offers a warmer orange feel to the otherwise cold surrounds. It's more impressionistic than the past clips -- like the lyrics suggest, leaving you with that feeling you might get when there's no one else awake. It was directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson, who's collaborated with Knife visual stylist/associate Andreas Nilsson on videos for José González and Bonde do Role. Speaking of which, when Fever Ray hits North America this fall, she'll be traveling with a stage show designed by Nilsson.

The "Triangle Walks" single will show up in two forms, both with remixes of the track, on 6/23 via Mute. This caffeinated take by UK producer Rex The Dog is a promo-only variation:

As far as the "Triangle Walks" single, the lengthier tracklist belongs to the download, the shorter one to the 12".

03 "Triangle Walks (Spektre Vocal Mix)"
04 "Triangle Walks (Tora Vinter remix)"

06 "Triangle Walks (Tiga's 1-2-3-4 remix)"
07 "Triangle Walks (James Rutledge remix)"
08 "Triangle Walks (Tiga's 1-2-3-4 remix instrumental)"

"creepy, eerie, and visually stunning" sums it up perfectly.

Love the song, and the video is good (fits the song pretty well) but I was expecting something a bit more interesting and creative after the AMAZING videos for If I Had A Heart and When I Grow Up. Ah well, still good music...

This song could easily soundtrack the end credits to some Michael Mann 80's film, like 'Manhunter' or 'Band of the Hand'. Which is not to say is a bad thing.

Agreed this is pretty much what her live show looks like, judging from the YouTube videos. Not as great as interesting as the other two, though.

Either way, anything Fever Ray makes me happy. In my opinion, the best album I've heard this year, by a landslide!!!!

Can't wait for her show. :)

Actually, all the images in this new video were taken from the live show.
Sad to say - this is the most, or even more than you get to see in the performance.
She should learn to react, even a little, to her audience.
Come on, not even an encore!
