New Fleet Foxes Video - "He Doesn't Know Why"

thumbnail icon: New Fleet Foxes Video - "He Doesn't Know Why"

The introductory phase of the rollicking, harmonious "He Doesn't Know Why" sees the Fleet Foxes dudes sitting around in a vintage-y looking, dusty Western setting with the threads to match. And then the bandsite gets invaded by a herd of goats? Why not. Call them "pastoral" and "bucolic" enough times, get the goat horns. It's reminiscent of Vampire Weekend's piss-take on their own image with the yachts, tea cups, and shades of the "Mansard Roof" clip: if it's fair to make psycho-social associations to bands' music, it's fair -- and fun -- for bands to play with them. Also it's fun to see goats baahing while the Foxes are doing the same.

Not like you don't already have this:

It's almost unfair how good they are. Can't they just, like, spread the talent around? Selfish bastards.

it was a super awesome video. all band members naked, instruments covering up nakedness.

Yeh, it was pretty awesome, but what i dont get is the part where they start gang raping the one bandmember and burn all those bibles. Weird.

Pretty decent video, but I agree; they did go a little too far. The fact that they had a downs syndrome girl in the video in the first place was a little risky, but when they all started to rape her, they kinda lost me. And perhaps the part where they used those aborted fetuses as guitar slides was a bit unnecessary. Having said that, I eagerly anticipate their next effort.

I wonder if those are the infamous goats from the pine and I-5 overpass that are rented out to eat blackberry bushes. God i hope so. I am going to go ahead and believe that.

Anyone surprised they chose this as their follow up single to White Winter Hymnal? I was praying for a really cool video for "Blue Ridge Mountains". Something that doesn't scream barnyard animals and blatant Americana, but maybe they need to push their identity since it's their first big LP.
