New Foo Fighters Video - "The Pretender"

The new Foo video starts like a cop-out -- massive set, tiny band, Dave bandaging his pickin' hand during the "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"-ish intro, etc. And aside from some extreme close-ups of Dave and Taylor's most excellent mugs, the clip's nondescript. (Or maybe it's just too familiar.) Until around T-2:30, when the army shows up. OK! Then nothing much, until around a minute left, when things get bloody 'n' gushy. Not bad, but with so many great clips to their name, sorta wanted more. Still love Taylor's big hit on beat four of the fourth bar in the four-bar hook, though. We love fake downbeats.

(For our non-USA readers, we're sorry -- it's MTV and they hate non-Americans, so it won't work outside of our fifty states. Until tomorrow when it's on YouTube.)

UPDATE: YouTube'd...
UPDATE #2: Back to MTV...
UPDATE #3: OK, official YouTube!

The Nuge could have taken the entire riot squad on with nothing but the power of his rockin'.

Seriously, stop using overdrive.

I'm tired of you guys posting videos from here and me not being able to watch them.

It's not just the clip. The track is like the best parts of four or five Foos songs combined into one. You can throw away "One By One" and most of the first side of "In Your Honor" and keep this song as a Cliff's Notes version of recent FF.

Not to say I don't turn it up every time I hear it.

Wow, what a terrible song. You indie idiots and your bad taste. Sounds like every other song foo fighters had. Talk about creativity.

I've seen Taylor play damn near every brand of drum set - pick one, stick with it and release a crazy expensive signature snare already!

Song's pretty good, but really "One By One"-ish. Hope the rest of the album doesn't blow like the last handful...

Looks like you will have to go back to the Overdrive feed. RCA had them take down all the full versions on youtube :(

One of these things is not like the other.

I like the visuals, but the song leaves me cold. It's muscular but repetitive and the chorus has little going for it.

Why is it bands like Nickelback get shithammered by the media for playing this type of cringeworthy nonsense yet Grohl and co always seem to get a free pass?

because dave grohl was in nirvana. he could produce any filth he wanted and it would become a hit. best of you was probably their only worthy hit

I thought the same about it sounding like there other hits, but most of these bands tend to be consistent with their sounds after the 3rd or 4th album. To me it makes it sound like "classic Foo"
Just my 2 cents!

i heard the album last night, its amazing. differen-ish in some areas, quiet songs that then explode. more accoustic guitars but it still rocks. not one band song on there. let it die is amazing!! and to say they sound the same is a good thing as long as the songs are quality and they are all quality. lyrically and arrangement wise, they're all faultless.

Good tune.

Someone said it was like every other Foo tune, but I assure you that this has something different. I've been following Navarro for a wee bit and this song has something special.

I lurve this song with my private bits!

I love this tune, the FF'S are a great band with great music, and their vidios prove how versitile they are, going from serious to comical. Good work guy's, keep it up.
