New Frank Black Video - "Don't Get Me Wrong"

Someone get this man a light meter! Black Francis is a spectral vision with a guitar thanks to the white balance in this clip for ""Don't Get Me Wrong" from the forthcoming CD/DVD set Christmass, due out 12/18 on Cooking Vinyl in the UK only. Lucky Brits! (via P4K)

The album's a mix of live stuff from earlier this year and five studio tunes, and you can pre-order it here. To hear more of what Christmass has in store, check the vid for "Do What You Want Gyaneshwar" -- and grab this podcast, featuring a tourbus acoustic take on "The Water," along with live songs from a gig in Saskatoon, Canada.

I love the Pixies but I think those 3 records are criminaly slept on. I'll even admit that when I first heard Frank Black I had no idea who The Pixies were or that he used to be Black Francis. I was in junior high watching 120 minutes. I've been a devoted fan ever sense

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...

Horse Feathers - "Father"

Portland songwriter Justin Ringle's evocative vocal twang and sharp lyricism are at the center of Horse Feathers' bedroom Americana. The band's second album House With No Home, which follows 2006's Words Are Dead, finds Ringle's vision fleshed out by multi-instrumentalist/composer...
