New Franz Ferdinand Video - "Eleanor Put Your Boots Back On"

We're just going video crazy today. Here's a new animated clip from that band you loved before they were all popular and shit.

I still love Franz Ferdinand (because I'm such an indie yuppie poser), but ugh, I really do not like that video at all. The little goth girl was creepy and expressionless. Couldn't they have at least made her look like Eleanor Friedberger who the song is about, anyway?

wow, that video rather sucks. she looks like she should be a drawing on the cover of a bratz toy box, or some cute clothing commercial.

fart noise for this video.

I didn't really care about the video, but rather the new recording of this song. I can say without doubt the album version is alot better.

EWW! They ruined one of my favorite songs! They turned the sweet piano Beatles-ish song into a alternative-poppy-folk-bullshit song with a dumb video. DAMN YOU LABEL EXECUTIVES!

I like this song, but doesn't the piano sound fairly Danny Elfman? Video = meh..

Sounded like a Britpop song. A really, really good Britpop song.

Ugh, Franz Ferdinand are starting to piss me off. Not only have they always been decently boring, but now they're going for the whole Beatles thing, a little more like the Thrills. At least stick to your own style if you're going to suck at it.

I'm shocked!
The album version was arguably one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a really long time. It reminded me of some of the stuff of Paul McCartney's first solo album "McCartney." The delicate nature of the word play, the beautiful piano work, even the melodies.

I can understand why Franz Ferdinand wanted to recorded it. The album version has the occasional squawks of feedback and also it's a bit um....slow? I dunno, I can't remember the last time a good ballad (not a pussy ass metal balad or anything with a singer who likes like an ex member of Matchbox 20) actually graced the top of the charts. This version is shite, and shoulda been left as a b-side or a giveaway download.

Fucking weedgie bastards. Fuck Rangers and Fuck Celtic F.C.!!

Quit complaining. You can still listen to the album version until your heart's content. I found this a rather nice "remix" (if you will) on the original. Not sure if I prefer it over the original, but I'm still quite happy they made it.

Fuckin A', I've always loved Franz and will continue to do see seeing as I like the video and somewhat prefer the new version of the song. Either way, the song is lovely.

They ruined the song!! Whhhy!

Well on a good note it started off nice, I like the old music box sound it hand at the beginning. Eh, pretty cool video, but they ruined the song.

I liked the original version, too, but I dug the new mix as well. It has a fun sound to it.

I think we have all come to a general consensus here; the album version should have been left the F**K ALONE!! I would have probably also flowed alot better with the video as well, since it would have given it a feel reminiscent of when "Eleonor Rigby" was performed in the the Yellow Submarine film.

I agree that the album version is much better. And whoever discouraged Franz from sounding Beatlesesque and said they should stick to their own thing, I strongly disagree. "Eleanor" is my favorite song on their second album and I think it shows growth. They didn't really have any ballads or changes of pace on the first record, unless you want to count "Auf Ausche." That said, they definitely should have kept the original version for the single. It's a wonderful song, but the new recording, by speeding it up and due to the strange affect in Alex's vocals on this version, takes away from the melancholy beauty of the song.

So, I'm alone in thinking the rerecorded version sounds better? Okay.

That video was sweet.
I like both versions. I think this version was really good for the music video. It doesn't change their sound for god's sake. It's just a nice change.
You guys are sooo uptight.
It doesn't ruin the song, it just gives you an idea of the song's potential. And this one has potential.

and the goth girl was cute and 2 dimensional. That's what I look for in my chicks. (Just kidding. I don't have chicks. I am a chick.)

I dont know why people dislike this video! i think it is amazing...not like the usual rubbish of people sitting on a boring background taking their clothes off (no offence james blunt).
They have used imagination and the song is awesome!
