New Franz Ferdinand Video - "No You Girls"

thumbnail icon: New Franz Ferdinand Video - "No You Girls"

Earlier today, Nick McCarthy dropped a German rap on a Super Furry track. Now he's making like a sniper aiming his instrument at slinky flappers. I like this guy's life. Franz Ferdinand clearly timed the video for the disco come-ons of "No You Girls" to capitalize on its iPod-commercial ubiquity, but also maybe to usurp some of that campaign's banal imagery: instead of a pair of hands tilting an iPod Touch just so, we get sweaty palms popping up in between strategically triangulated womens' legs, along with other things that sound less suggestive but are a little more so. Next to the implied upper-binge of the "Ulysses" clip, Tonight is shaping up to be a party you should never bring your parents to. Probably your girlfriends, either.

Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is out via Domino.

The thing I especially love about this song is the lines like "I love you- I mean, I, I'd love to get to know you."

You know, being an awkward teenager and everything? Story of my life.

Proof the iPod commercial production team did a horrible job cutting this track for the ad.

Those girls' wardrobe could rival Lykke Li's most artsy pictures! I dig it.

This video is like a way better version of the Editors' "An End Has a Start" video. And as Franz Ferdinand fan, yes, this does sound like "Take Me Out".

Ah yes people compare, compare.

This video doesn't fit the song.
And the dancers should have did a dance called The Frug.

it's like a rap video mixed with ballet with all the 'booty shots' as i believe the kids say.

Very Artsy, I like it! As a franz fan, I like that they always do avant-garde videos that are way out there but make them stand out. and ALEX looks FUCKING HOT!! in this video. but they should have put some more shots of nick, paul, and bob.

Meh..."Take Me Out" was original but this is just blah. I don't know why more music artists are going for these weird music videos. It only worked with MGMT. The Killers tried it and it just felt awkward and this was just plain boring.

I think all they did was record the graduation ceremony at Robert Palmer's School for Young Women.

sounds like some shallow 80's top 40 song, but not as good. i can't see how anyone over 25 would listen to this crap... bu they do.

Yes it does sound like Girls on Film. Franz Ferdinand is a lot less poppy than Duran Duran.

I really wish the postmodern 80s revival thing would just QUIT. It's been going on for about a decade now. Let's do something else!
