New Futureheads Video - "Beginning Of The Twist"

Our first listen of the Futureheads' new single -- the second from the Mackems' (thanks Bender Bending Rodriguez, for the terminology) forthcoming This Is Not The World -- left us wanting, for something. Guess that "something" was just seeing the band in a green-screened, making-of-the-video video. The quartet's walking through animated storyboards, rocking in deserts, winking at the machinations of video-making. You don't learn anything about the beginning of the twist, really, but Barry Hyde looking ridiculous in t-shirt and bow-tie is just compensation.

Kind of feel like this track is a step backwards, whereas "Broke up the time" felt like it had some new energy infused into it. I'll give it some more listens, but this feels like a song designed to be a pop single, which is not playing to their strengths IMO.

By 'pop single' do you mean 'pop single from late 1980s'?

Not as raucous as 'Crash' or 'Broke Up The Time' but still bloody good.

This is the best thing they're released in a while. SInce the kate bush cover.

Slow to get to this one - shame as this band always makes me smile. This is one of the better meta-videos I've seen, very clever take on the video-about-making-the-video trope. Catchy tune, too.
