New Garbage Video- "Tell Me Where It Hurts"

Shaping up to a be a fruitful year for Manson family comebacks. Marilyn's barely legal sexcapades aside, '07 sees the much-delayed release of the Garbage best-of, now titled Absolute Garbage. Though we haven't seen the band since their October '05 gig in Australia, Butch Vig and Shirley put together at least one new tune for the retrospective comp, the very safe and tuneful "Tell Me Where It Hurts." Deaf Indie Elephants has the tripod-filming-official-vid-on-TV-style YouTube, which, shitty as it is, can't obfuscate Shirley's ever-present glam.

UPDATE: Got some YouTube for ya.

Absolute Garbage is out in North America on 7/17 via Geffen/Universal. "Tell Me Where It Hurts" lyrics after the jump.

What is my day going to look like
What will tomorrow bring me
If I had x-ray eyes, I could see inside
I wouldn’t have to protect the future
I wish that you would do with some talking (I’m not sure about that line at all lol)
Or else am I to know what you’re thinking
If only people would say what it really was
What it really was
What it really was that they wanted

Chorus:
Tell me where it hurts
to hell with everybody else
All I care about is you and that's the truth
They don't love me, I can tell
But you do, so they can go to hell

Did they ever give you a reason
To believe in something different
If you’re looking for love, for what’s worth
I have plenty of it lying around here somewhere
If you are looking for disappointment
You can find it around any corner
In the middle of the night I hold on to you tight
So both of us can feel protected

Chorus:
Tell me where it hurts,
to hell with everybody else.
All I care about is you and that's the truth
they don't love me, yeah I can tell
but you do, so they can go to hell

I’ve been loved but I didn’t know how to feel it
And I’ve been adored but I don’t know if I ever believed it
I’ve been loved my whole life but I didn’t know how to take it
Until…..

Chorus:
So tell me where it hurts
to hell with everybody else
All I care about is you and that's the truth
they don't love me, yeah I can tell
But you do, so they can go to hell

But you do, so they can go to hell

Tell me where it hurts x 2

Tell me where it hurts now

Tell me where it hurts (x 3 fade out)

She did do a pretty decent job with "The World is Not Enough."

ugh....go away Garbage!

This band has not stopped embarrasing themselves with everything theyve done since Version 2.0. Just let the band die.

Why is everything on this site just reposts from "Deaf Indie Elephants"? is that site a front for hosting SG material?

this new single reminds me of the manic street preachers. either way, i'm glad they moved away from electro/techno/industrial rock, it's so dead and dated. their biggest hits (stupid girl, special, why do you love me) haven't been even slightly electro influenced, so this isn't really a surprising single choice for a GH album.

I don't know what's wrong with you people. Garbage has never disappointed it's greatest fans. I've loved every minute of them from the first track of Garbage to the last track of Bleed Like Me. This new single is very catchy and has an 80's sound to it. I love it!

By the way, Beautiful Garbage is frowned upon way too much. I think it's one of their best albums. It was different and had a very unique sound to it. It was almost "mocking" pop music, and it worked. Cherry Lips (Go baby Go!) is one of their best singles ever released.

Can't wait for the GH album, and hopefully a new studio album, too!

I can't believe it's the first time I noticed Shirley's resemblance to Uma Thurman. And she looked like this before.
This tune sounds like The Pretenders!

Hey Luiis I hate to tell you this but Garbage have disappointed many of their greatest fans.

beautifulgarbage tore their fan base apart, yes it got them new fans but I can assure you it lost them more fans than it gained. I for one can't stand BG and had Bleed Like Me not gone back or got close to the bands rockier roots then I would not still be running 3 Garbage sites.

There is more news on Absolute Garbage at http://www.garbagediscobox.com/news for anyone that cares.

tbh im a bit disapointed with this song but with every garbage song their lyrics actually mean something and are good. There are so many songs out there by musicians which have no meaning to it. I dont dislike their song its just not one of their best. I liked all their albums including BG except that song adrogyny.

I don't know why everyone who dislikes Garbage has a comment. If you don't like them - don't worry if they're doing something new. I have been a huge fan for 12 years now and I go crazy when something New Comes out. Stop Spoiling it for people who are dying for new stuff by them

I can't believe people are still dissing newer Garbage in favor of the 90s albums. Do you really think most of Version 2.0 is better than this song? "Tell Me Where It Hurts" is so much better than "When I Grow Up" for example. Hooray to Garbage for doing what they're good at and not trying to bite a trend.

I am not a big fan of this song. As a fan from way back when, I have to say that this song is the least Garbage-esque song they have produced to date. It is very vocal-heavy and seems to me to be a step toward a solo career for Shirley Manson. With the band on "indefinate hiatus" I am a bit disappointed that this will be the note they are going out on. I am only hoping that "Betcha" will sound a little more true to form for them.

Good for Shirley that she is going to try her hand at the solo scene. But if "Tell Me Where It Hurts" is any indication as to what her sound is going to be then count me out. I wish she would just stick with her Duke, Butch and Steve and continue to make great Garbage beats.
