New Giant Drag Video - "Stuff To Live For" (Stereogum Premiere)
When Annie Hardy, aka Giant Drag, sat down with Jessica for a Progress Report, we found out she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, was prepping and planning to self-release the Swan Song EP, and that she went blond and cut and sold her hair. We also premiered Swan Song's "Stuff To Live For." A more than solid amount of information, sure, but she didn't tell us that in the G.J. Echternkamp-directed video for the track she'd be getting pummeled with glitter, confetti, streamers, rose petals, bubbles, silly string, popcorn, candy, noodles, assorted garbage, Jell-O, pudding, canned green beans, canned corn, cigarettes, pills, syringes, fake blood, flour, feathers, milk, Tampico fruit drink, eggs, and breakaway glass. Quite the onslaught. As Hardy told us, "I think it was G.J.'s intention to make me suffer and I am almost crying when all that milk and Tampico is being poured/shot at me." See for yourself.

Never underestimate the potential for crude commentary on internet messageboards. I don't understand why anyone is ever surprised that half of the comments are arguments about how hot a girl is. Welcome to the interwebs! If you post an image (or in this case, moving image) of a girl, it will inevitably be judged. That's just what people generally like to do here. I saw an article the other day about Ashley Jex's record label, where the comments ended up (much to her dismay) being a discussion of her weight. People are generally pretty shitty, and they don't mind proving it. The cloak of anonymity brings out the worst in us.
