New Gnarls Barkley Video - "Smiley Faces"

Finally! I had no idea they played Altamont. Here's Gnarls' crazy timewarp, with narration from Dennis Hopper and Dean Stockwell. Yes, the Peppers had the same idea with "Dani California" ... but we like this better.

What's your favorite part?

I think the Gnarls + Velvet Underground and the Gnarls + Clash bits were my favorites. The bit of Bowie with DM in the background was also awesome.

funny thing... while i was reading a book about los angeles art from 1955-85; dennis hopper is a fairly well known photographer and dean stockwell was hanging out with beat poets in the late 50's in venice beach. funny to see them together like that after just reading about them.

this is soooooo much better than the rhcp shite, glad to see someone pull this off while still respecting their predecessors. that chili peppers video made my extremely uneasy, especially the cobain thing....it's not that i love cobain that much, it just seemed....mocking

big ups to gnarls for tipping their hat to woody allen's zelig....

this is art...

and i remember a while back talking about how gnarls' album would do against the chili peppers....

i think gnarls is still in the top ten, right?

congrats!

had some music of the sunday show at coachella '06 to familiarize myself with the groups(thanks, cary). by far, the music that pulled us the most was gnarls(even thought it was the singer's name. what the fuck, i'm 56!!!) their wizard costumes, their energy, their fucking music. they became my new god! and then all hell broke loose...... i could not be happier....or higher... and now, i am listening to the pre-gnarls cds. heaven..... and this sunday in l.a. at the avalon. kaye, you are my high priestess of gnarldom. i bow....
