New Immaculate Machine Video - "C'mon Sea Legs"

thumbnail icon: New Immaculate Machine Video - "C'mon Sea Legs"

After a series of self-releases, Canadian indie pop outfit Immaculate Machine saw their stock rise when Kathryn Calder was asked to lend a hand to her uncle's band. By her uncle Carl Newman. The New Pornographic bump came just in time for IM's Fables LP, yielding its own bloggability via the summery standout "Dear Confessor," and this year sees its Mint Records followup High On Jackson Hill. "C'mon Sea Legs" is a cloudier and more distressed affair, full of pleas for self-reliance via sea-faring metaphors that on second thought maybe aren't metaphors because this video is all about big ships and sea-men. A press release trumpets the album as guitarist Brooke Gallupe's move to the helm of the band's creative vision, which adds a playful wrinkle to Kathryn throwing him overboard in this clip.

Another from the LP, best taken as a chaser to "C'Mon Sea Legs" to extend the narrative:

Immaculate Machine - "Sound The Alarms" (MP3)

High On Jackson Hill is out 4/21 on Mint. Canadian bands touring the States, Immaculate Machine made a comic for you (click to make it bigger).

Great band, probably the best of Portland's MusicFest '07.
