New Interpol Live Videos - "Pioneer" & "Heinrich Maneuver"

Interpol kicked off their tour Sunday night at the Capital Music Hall in Ottawa, debuting some material from their as-yet-untitled record, due out 7/5 on Capitol. Stereogum reader Yiyo clued us in on the grainy YouTube from the show, including this new cut that may or may not be called "Pioneer." Sounds like ... Interpol's got a formula, and they're sticking to it.

For something with a beefier BPM, try the nearly complete clip of "Heinrich Maneuver" that's after the jump (along with Interpol's dates).

love it! it gives hope that they won't pull a "strokes" by fucking around with their sound too much.

I can't hear any of those lyrics but I've been wondering for months now if "Heinrich Maneuver" has anything to do with former Kansas Jayhawk and current Chicago Bulls star, Kirk Heinrich.

After some sick pass or slash to the hoop we'd always call it a Heinrich maneuver. Is Paul coppin' my slang? Someone please explain.

They're also doing Lollapalooza. And I'm digging Pioneer.

How are things on the west coast? Uhh sunnier than where you are.

Kirk Hinrich doesn't use an "e" the way he spells his name.

but i too am a fan of Kirk Hinrich...a true PG in a land of ball hog PG's. God bless he and Chris Paul.

Yeah, sounds like they're not departing hugely from "The Interpol Sound", which is okay with me, as long as the songs are good.. Hard to get more than a general impression with the rough quality of these clips but I think I prefer Pioneer to Heinrich Manuever.

Shit that's right, no "e" in his name. Not surprising that the members of Interpol don't follow the basketball career of some kid from Iowa as closely as I do (even though I mis-spelled his name).

I'm shocked at the commentors who know so little about Interpol (Carlos D. is no douche! He's an artiste!), and Kirk Hinrich.

I was at the show in Kitchener last night & there was a 3rd new song they were playing that I thought even was better than the two that are posted here.
Things are looking good for the new record!

i love the pioneer song, that's really gonna be beautiful i bet. the other one is so-so. looking forward to hearing some more! i don't care if they change their sound so much as keep making good songs.

also to the first comment, i think it was their lack of "fucking with their sound too much" that made the strokes' releases get worse. but that's just me. i think that could happen with interpol, too, easily. but Pioneer is beautiful, and if it's recorded properly, all that'd matter to me is that they're contiuing their dark magic that they do...

pioneer sound sounds like a mix between untitled and NYC. NYC was the worst moment on an otherwise impressive album.

heinrich sounds like a mix between slow hands and c'mere. the worst moments on an album full of worst moments.

what is wrong with these young homosexuals?

I was so pissed off with these guys. Their first tour date was in my home city, a place that big bands hardly ever go to. And it was the first date on their tour. And despite being signed up on their mailing list, i didn't find out about their tour until someone mentioned it to me in passing. And by that point, the tickets were sold out. They couldn't have done their opening show in NYC or something? Christ.

Looks like Paul switched to a Fender Jaguar. Defintitely going for a different sound than with his Gibson.

Pioneer makes my heart break.
In a good way.
I can hear the difference, certainly.
It doesn't sound like a completely different band, though, which is a really great thing.
I'm thrilled about the new album. :D

Oh my god, I love those new songs! I just hope there´ll be more gigs in Germany, I can´t afford going to Southside Festival, damn it!
Strange to see Daniel with short hear..
"what is wrong with these young homosexuals?"
Sorry guy, but calling Antics an album full of worst moments and then judging over a subject like that??? Are you crazy or fucking high?

NYC is frign brilliant and TOTBL is definitely a masterpiece. Antics is at least 85-90% as good.glifted is obviously not high because then he'd actually realize how great NYC is. He's probably one of those douchebags that only likes the more upbeat and rockier songs on any particular album. I haven't listened to the new stuff.. trying to hold off at least until it leaks. But I'm from what I hear about the new songs I'm very pleased. Though after this one it's time for them to make a departure into other territory (not corporate mainstream sounding bullshit hopefully)
