New Jason Isbell Live Video - "The Magician"

Back in April, singer/guitarist Jason Isbell "amicably" parted with Drive-By Truckers: leaving a hole in the band's three-axe attack later filled by John Neff, and leaving Jason with the time and energy to six-string together a solo debut LP, out today via New West. You can hear some of his new tunes on MySpace, or click the little triangle button below for a live take on "The Magician," a brushed-up country-folk cut from the new LP.

For more streamy fun, head here to launch an eCard playing live vid of the gorgeous Southern-soaked "Chicago Promenade." Sirens Of The Ditch is out today via New West.

You really should check out this band if you get the chance. My band opened for them at his CD release show this weekend and it was the 3rd time I've seen this line-up. Really great show.

I saw the band last night in Atlanta. They put on a fantastic show. Not only did the play new stuff and some DBT tunes, they even snuck in covers of Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer" and Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak".

THere is not one bad song on this cd. ALL ARE GREAT. Jason wasnt my favorite trucker, but this cd has great lyrics, tunes, and phrasing that is good as it gets. He makes it look easy.

I would like to know if Jason's Family comes from Michigan or Ill.
My father-in-law's name is Jason Benjamin Isbell from Hillsdale, Michigan.
He was the IV JBI in his family.
His Great-Great Grandfather had a brother. Unfortunately, we have lost contact with that side of the family.
My brother-in-law was one of the top 5 recording/touring drummers in Nashville for 35 years. His name is Jim Isbell.

The article in Esquire Mag., was brought to our attention by a family friend and we would love to know if there was a family connection.
